Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available

I just attempted to run iHealth and ran into a problem.

The first popup indicates that I have 46 devices in Indigo and it will attempt to identify the insteon devices. btw - 44 of the devices are insteon, only 1 of them is battery powered (triggerlinc)

The next popup indicates that iHealth identified 0 of 1 insteon devices that it can test. I'm assuming the one insteon device it identified, but can't test, is the triggerlinc. But I don't know why it isn't recognizing the other 43 insteon devices (switchlincs, keypadlincs, lamplincs).

I'm running the latest version of Indigo on the latest version of lion on a mac mini. I've never attempted to run iHealth before this. I'm using a 2413U plc.

Note: I've attempted to run iHealth with the indigo server running and with the indigo server stopped. I have the iHealth app running from my desktop right now.

Thanks for any help you can give.

update: moved the app to application folder: no difference. I saw a previous post with this issue which suggested testing the devices in indigo (did that and they work from Indigo) and restarting the mac mini (did that w/ no change). I also saw a post suggesting that Indigo 5 (which I'm running) might be the issue, but I'm running v. 1.2 of the app so that shouldn't be a problem.

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available

Hi All.... I'm new here and am just getting my house setup. I have 33 insteon devices, mostly SwitchLinc Relays. Anyway, here is the situation. I've had trouble communicating with a couple of devices via Indigo and my PowerLInk 2413U. So, I found this tool and ran it. Well, every time it runs, there are two SwitchLinc Relays that have a high number of failures (6 to 9 out of 10). What is "funny" about these two is that each are in boxes with several other relays that work just fine and are fed off the same common/hot! Any suggestions? Are these relays just bad and should I try to get them replaced?

Thanks for any insight.
Bob

Try a factory reset on them - maybe a long shot but worth the attempt.

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available

Thanks Jay, but no luck. I tried resetting one, which I think it did correctly, but still the same issue. Guess I'll contact the place where I got it. Unless of course there are other ideas.

Could this be a wiring issue? Like I said, there are multiple relays in the same box, the others are OK.

Thanks again,
Bob

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available

I just ran iHealth, it is a great tool to find the trouble spots!

Two suggestions on creating iHealth Device List for the first time:
1) Just like Insteon Motion Sensor, I feel like RemoteLinc2 should be excluded from the Device lists (I have to manually removed them)
2) Devices that are excluded when unchecked with "Comm Enabled" should be excluded from the Device lists (I have to manually removed them as well)

Thanks!

Hi Jay,

it appears iHealth doesn't work anymore under Mavericks. Any idea what to do?

I don't have Mavericks installed here yet. But, as soon as I upgrade I will see if I can figure out the problem.

Thanks. It seems that it can't write the HTML file.

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available

could you share the code? the app container only contains the executable, no applescript.

thanks

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available

This is what is shown in the Terminal window when I try to run it under Mavericks:

Code: Select all
dyld: lazy symbol binding failed: Symbol not found: _Perl_Gthr_key_ptr
  Referenced from: ./CPAN/SerialPort.bundle
  Expected in: flat namespace

dyld: Symbol not found: _Perl_Gthr_key_ptr
  Referenced from: ./CPAN/SerialPort.bundle
  Expected in: flat namespace

Trace/BPT trap
This window will automatically close in 30 seconds

I don't know enough to have a clue how to fix it. Bummer really, as I was about to quantify some changes in my system.

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available

Not sure what happened, but now I can't even get the health tool to even catalog devices. I get 0 devices found, followed by a message that the application isn't running.

This seems like it now can't find the PLM's serial port. It used to ask me to select between the two usb-serial interfaces on my Mac (one for the PLM and one for a Z-wave adapter). Now it doesn't do that. This worked last week under Mavericks.

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available

A beta version of iHealth for Mavericks is available on dropbox.

WARNING. This is 100% IWFMH* -- YMMV. This has not been tested on MacOS 10.8 or earlier. So, if you are on an older release you might want to stay with the version of iHealth you now have.

Please report all problems to this forum topic.

Re: Insteon Health Test Tool app now available

it goes through the discovery
I get a files with entries like:
=======
Device: remote_8_button
Description:
Type: insteon
Model: RemoteLinc 2 8-Scene
Address: 1C.4E.5C

Device: outsideFrontBushesLights
Description: powerswitch
Type: insteon
Model: Outdoor Appliance (2634-222)
Address: 25.98.0D

Device: spare micro
Description: micro switch in wall, manual switch only sets micro dimmer switch

Type: insteon
Model: Micro Module Dimmer (dual-band)
Address: 1F.D6.21
=======

that looks ok.

then after selecting the USB interface i get the following error message:

....:~ karlwachs$ sleep 1;cd '/Users/karlwachs/Downloads/iHealth-1.1.app/Contents/Resources/';clear ; ./insteon_health.pl -d"/Users/karlwachs/Desktop/iHealth-Devices.txt" -i 10 -m cu.usbserial-A901M91S -o "/var/tmp/iHealth-Report.html";echo This window will automatically close in 30 seconds;sleep 30;exit

-bash: ./insteon_health.pl: /opt/local/bin/perl5: bad interpreter: No such file or directory

Looks like a path issue. Try version 1.2 I just placed on dropbox.
