Re: Me Want

That is pretty badass... I'm not sure what I would do with all those Pi slots, but I am sure something would come up!

World domination requires a fair number of Pi's.

Right?

Here's one with 250 Pi's, each with its own screen.

Re: Me Want

I've been considering investing in a semi-decent 3D printer... this is so tempting that I might have to consider it more seriously. Not a terribly expensive one, but seen some with great reviews and large print bed for $400-ish. Missing some top-end features for sure, but a big upgrade from the one I currently have access to via my dad's.

Maybe should make a couple of these and sell them to pay for the printer! :-)

Re: Me Want

Charging amounts to pay for the materials and/or equipment, but without a profit motive is generally allowed... For instance, our local library will 3D print your projects for a set fee (by material weight) that pays for the material and wear/tear on the printer. They are allowed to print Creative Commons Non Commerical licensed items. (You have to provide the license used with your models that you submit).

I'm not talking a business here... and it was just in jest mostly, if I were to get a printer I would gladly print things for people for the cost of the filament just to have fun and make stuff! But that filament can add up. Not sure what kind of electricity it uses, but can't be anywhere near the usage coming off the rack near where this could sit so would consider that just part of the hobby!

Incidentally, to get the library to print that project would take FOREVER because each model/copy you would submit would have to go back in the queue which was like 2-3 weeks last I looked. And my dad's just isn't high enough quality to want to have it there to be seen (doesn't produce a great finish quality).

Re: Me Want

I totally get it. Somebody spends the time to whip up some pretty models only to have some company fire off some injection molding dies. Suddenly, they're making money off your models. But somebody else that's recouping printing costs isn't in it for the money.

Let me know when you get it. I'd like one of these exactly as pictured. :)

I'll let you know as soon as I figured out either (1) the bullet proof excuse or (2) the proper way to conceal a 14" square machine moving and making parts... Surely the design side of things is considered a STEM project for the kid to watch me do, right?
