Texecom connect

For those of you using racarter's excellent texecom alarm plugin, or considering a home security system that works with Indigo but is also robust and stand alone incase anything happens to your Mac then the texecom setup has got better with their Connect app. It needs a new box to make the panel smart but gives a much better iOS app experience than previously and better native push notification outside of indigo.

Re: Texecom connect

Cool, any links to this?

I don’t use his plugin as the alarm is at Church, not Home, but push alerts would be great.

Re: Texecom connect

This is the smart com device you need. Also the panel needs firmware upgrade so you need a flasher if you don't have one already.

You need a premier elite panel. Any will do. Metal are more secure and take a bigger backup battery.
Plastic are smaller and can have wireless sensor support built in. Metal need a separate box.
Premier elite 24 metal is what I have and works but the 48 has a bit of extra connectivity and control.

All use windows software to setup which is easier than using keypad to do.

There are kits available as well to save initial cost.

Happy to help if needed.

Re: Texecom connect

Thanks for the info. :D

I'll do a bit of reading from the links you have all given.

My current alarm has two active bell boxes - one at the front of the house and one at the back. Do you know if this is possible with the Texecom equipment. Looks like the installation manuals aren't easily available unless I have missed a link? :)

Re: Texecom connect

Yes. This is professional grade so pretty much anything is possible. Multiple bells are and they support various types.
The website does require registering to receive manuals. I can email over if you dm me your email address.

Re: Texecom connect

Ditto.

I’ve got 3 keypads, ID biscuit expander, IP module, phone thingy that rings me when alarm goes off and ~25 zones, all done myself from the (very good) manuals and software.

Re: Texecom connect

The new ricochet wireless door sensors are very small and discreet and the external pir sensors are great, and very reliable.

Sent some reading material!!

Re: Texecom connect

Reckon you could do it with help here but there are forums with professional installers that help out too, once you are past the basics

I guess this is the device: Texecom Premier Flash Interface PCB ?

Do I also need this: Texecom USB-COM Interface Connector JAC-0001 - It seems very expensive for a USB cable or has it got a special connector (COM) on one end?
