Got me one of these and the device is working great. But when I went to install the plugin found out that the broadlink library in python appears to be broken. Does anyone have it to share?

Nevermind, apparently I needed to manually update PIP in order to install it.

Once we get your changes merged I'll draft a new release on the plugin store that cites support for the new Mini device. Thanks for your contribution!

Hi all. Has anyone got the pro working for RF yet? Wondering if this could be a cheaper easier setup to control my 433mhz remote sockets rather than buying the rfxcom?

I can get it to learn RF through the app but from what I have found the python library used in the plugin doesn’t support rf.

Cheers. I'm going to move to WiFi devices which have better coverage anyway.

Broadlink RM Pro - Inexpensive IR/RF Integration

Treated myself to an early Christmas present and ordered today. Very excited to give it a whirl.

I previously used an IP2IR and Perry’s plugin with (eventually) great results. This one seems way more easily programmable.

Re: Broadlink RM Pro - Inexpensive IR/RF Integration

If someone has an example RF device (cheap?) that works with the RM Pro+ I'll buy one and see if I can't get it to work with this plugin. Perhaps virgahyatt is right and the broadlink library I'm using lacks this support. I'm willing to give it a whirl though. I just ordered an RM Mini for myself from NewEgg for $14. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product. ... GHY78V8205 I also bought an SP2 and an SP3S; I'm going to try to make these work with the plugin as well.

I released a new version of the plugin. Let me know how it works out! https://www.indigodomo.com/pluginstore/197/

To learn rf you first have to turn on frequency sweeping. Here’s a link to a discussion about it https://github.com/mjg59/python-broadlink/issues/87

This plugin is GREAT with the Broadlink Pro! It was up and going in minutes, way easier than setup and programming of the itach IP2IR

Hi

Would really be interested in trying to get the RF part working.
I have a RM pro+ which I can learn and control RF fans through the App and it would be great to implement into Indigo.

Broadlink RM Pro - Inexpensive IR/RF Integration

Thanks for a great plugin!

I am using an RM Mini to control split unit AC systems that I was previously using the far more expensive Remotec IR devices.

Has there been any developments that will allow RF control to be incorporated into the plugin wth the ability to learn commands? I would like to use the combined IR/RF unit to control my recently installed external roller blinds!!

I’m no programmer but wold be happy to donate the (reasonable) price of any necessary Broadlink RF devices to facilitate the development!

Anyone?

I’m thinking that as this device is capable of learning, it will provide a low-cost alternative to RFXCom?

Re: Broadlink RM Pro - Inexpensive IR/RF Integration

So I have found a way to use this with RF. There is a Homebridge plugin for it and with a couple of hoops I was able to get it to find the hex code for an RF remote, though even once I was able to get the code it took several attempts for it to provide the correct one. At that point you can either add the code to the Homebridge plugin or to the Broadlink plugin for indigo.

Here is the link to the Homebridge plugin: https://www.npmjs.com/package/homebridge-broadlink-rm.

For it to work you will need to first setup an independent Homebridge server (I just installed it on a raspberry pi I had lying around). Install the plugin and add the server to HomeKit.

Once added the broad link plugin adds two devices. Scan Frequency and Learn Code.

You will need to be watching the log from Homebridge to retrieve the code. If you run it from the command line it will output the log to the window.

Now click the Scan Frequency button and press/hold the button on your RF remote.

In the log watch for "[INFO] Scan RF (found frequency - 1 of 2)." Once you see this let go of the button on your RF remote and press the Learn Code button in the home app. Then press and hold the button on your RF remote again. Hold the button on your RF remote for a second or two and release.

You should see:

[INFO] Scan RF (scanning)
[8/21/2019, 4:28:16 AM] [Broadlink RM] [ACTION] Hold down the button that sends the RF frequency.
[8/21/2019, 4:28:21 AM] [Broadlink RM] [INFO] Scan RF (found frequency - 1 of 2)
[8/21/2019, 4:28:22 AM] [Broadlink RM] Learn Code (ready)
[8/21/2019, 4:28:25 AM] [Broadlink RM] [INFO] Scan RF (complete)
[8/21/2019, 4:28:25 AM] [Broadlink RM] [RESULT] Hex Code: b2593400230d240d0c25240d0c250c25240d0c250c250c24230d0c250c00016f0c240c240c240c25240d240d0c25240d240d0c24240d240d00000000
[8/21/2019, 4:28:25 AM] [Broadlink RM] [RESULT] Learn Code (learned hex code: b2593400230d240d0c25240d0c250c25240d0c250c250c24230d0c250c00016f0c240c240c240c25240d240d0c25240d240d0c24240d240d00000000)
[8/21/2019, 4:28:25 AM] [Broadlink RM] [INFO] Learn Code (complete)
[8/21/2019, 4:28:25 AM] [Broadlink RM] [INFO] Learn Code (stopped)
[8/21/2019, 4:28:26 AM] [Broadlink RM] [INFO] Scan RF (stopped)

Just copy and paste the hex code (bold added) into either the config file for the Homebridge *plugin* or into Broadlink config for your device in Indigo.

*This is the extra Homebridge server, not the indigo Homebridge plugin.

EDIT: added *

Nice hack! I must try! I assume the same applies to an Indigo Homekitbridge (without the raspi server instance)?

Re: Broadlink RM Pro - Inexpensive IR/RF Integration

It does have to be an independent Homebridge install. Not the Indigo plugin. You can install one on the same machine as indigo that I have experienced complications with that. If you plan on using the indigo plugin to control the Broadlink in the end, then you only need the extra Homebridge to get the codes. Once you're done you can remove it.
