Speak iTunes Information

Overview
This script pauses the song currently playing on iTunes on the computer running Indigo, speaks the song, artist and album, and then resumes playing the song at the same point.

Installation
After downloading, drag the Speak iTunes Information script into the folder: /Library/Application Support/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 2/Scripts/

Usage
Execute within Indigo, typically as a Trigger Action attached to a RemoteLinc or IRLinc. The script will only execute if iTunes is currently playing, and will speak the track information on whatever speakers are currently in use with iTunes. To speak with a voice other than the System voice, add the voice name to the associated property at the top of the script; for example, the new Leopard voice Alex works well.

Excellent addition to the library, thanks!

BTW, I changed the group to Application Integration - it seemed a little more appropriate there.

Has anyone used this? If using airport to stream itunes to my stereo system, will this information be played through the stereo or just local on the computer? Thanks.

Hi Jay,

It should play through on whatever system(s) the music is playing, which in your case would be the stereo.

That was the whole point of the script, as "saying" anything on the Mac typically will only play though the local computer speakers.

Can anyone help me here?

Sorry, been offline for a while.

I don't get that error, o I'm not sure why it's occurring.

If you open the script and run it standalone, using the Script Editor Event Log, do you get the same error? Note that when you do this, the "repeat until" loop will log a lot of repetitions while the track information is being read.

Check the download library. Anything on this forum topic is downloadable there.

I tried this script with Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and Indigo 4.1.7.
However iTunes does not resume the currently playing song, it stops with the iTunesIndigoTempFile...
Anyone knows how to fix this?
regards
