Device UI startup

I think I already know the answer to this... but just in case...
When opening the config UI for a new device I am doing a device discovery that causes a short delay between selecting the Model and the display of the edit window. Is there anyway to present a message during this interval to explain the delay? (BTW, on subsequent edits I can detect the device has already been configured and avoid the discovery.).

Related question. If a plugin has only one model is there anyway to skip the requirement to select the Model?
