Starting client causing Indigo server to restart

I’ve got a very odd problem where whenever I quit and re-open the Indigo client on the server (an M1 MacBook Pro which has just had a fresh install of Sonoma) the Indigo service restarts. It works fine in the background until the client re-opens so it’s not set to the client only mode. I’m.. confused as to what could be causing this? It’s only happened since I upgraded to indigo 2023.1

Re: Starting client causing Indigo server to restart

So, quitting the client doesn't cause the server to stop, but restarting the client does? Do you get prompted when you launch the client after previously quitting it?

Correct. Or at least it goes through the startup procedure, loads all the plugins, etc.

Nope no prompts.. just opens the client and it behaves as if I just launched the server.

Odd eh?

Re: Starting client causing Indigo server to restart

Hmm, I think I saw that too.

Yup, just reproduced it. Server is running. Connecting from remote client works normally. Then I used Screen Sharing to get to the server system. Launched the client, and the server immediately starts shutdown and disconnects the remote client.

Here's the log. You can see the remote client connecting. Then soon after I launched the local client and it started the shutdown.
Code: Select all

I also see this behaviour since upgrading to 2023.1. I have not upgraded OS - I’m still on 13.5.1.

Re: Starting client causing Indigo server to restart

I'm seeing this too as of 2023.1.

And to reiterate another post, it only happens when I start the client locally on the Mac that's running the server. Starting a remote client does not cause the server restart.

Re: Starting client causing Indigo server to restart

I'm seeing the same behavior.
From the events log (apologies if someone already pointed this out), when I open the client, I see this:

2023-10-09 18:23:30.271 Application Quitting Indigo Server - received fast quit signal

then it goes through all the shutdown stuff (stopping plugins, etc etc.)

And then it gets to the end of shutdown and immediately restarts
2023-10-09 18:23:35.303 Application Quitting Indigo Server - disconnecting clients
2023-10-09 18:23:35.711 Application Quitting Indigo Server - unloading launchd plist
2023-10-09 18:23:35.719 Application Quitting Indigo Server - complete
2023-10-09 18:23:35.870 Application Starting Indigo Server version 2023.1.0 on macOS Version 11.7.10 (Build 20G1427)

I also ran a loop printing out the date and the ps output of the IndigoServer, and the pid/process start time remains the same until I open the client at which point a new instance is spawned.

Re: Starting client causing Indigo server to restart

Same issue here.
Starting the Indigo Client re-starts the server.
When I start the client, in the server message box it shows "connecting to the server", then opens the connection and re-starts the server.
Quitting the client does not stop the server.
I tried to connect as a "remote server" and it works well, meaning it doesn't restart the server, but I loose some functionalities being connected that way, such as "Show Events Log Folder".
Seems a glitch in the last version of Indigo (2023.1).

Fixed in Indigo 2023.1.1, available now.

Unfortunately, my initial testing shows it to still start the server when the client loads on the server itself. I have 2023.1.1 loaded along with Sonoma (14.0)

Sorry
