I have two systems running on Mac minis in two states (PA and DE) with two different ISPs and two different modem/router set-ups yet both are having reflector problems:

What is going on?

Are you all still seeing problems? Our monitoring here isn't showing any issues; active good reflector connections have been very steady lately. Normally these issues end up being ISP routing issues causing connections to frequently break (which Indigo rebuilds). Normally the problems don't last long (since the ISP will eventually fix the underlying issue).

Your log is also showing network errors coming from several plugins, so it looks like a more general network issue and not reflector specific. I'd start by rebooting your Mac and network equipment (router, etc.).

You didn't comment on my reflector errors. As I said I have 2 systems in 2 states running Indigo and I am having reflector errors on both. 2 different ISPs and modem router combos. And yes, I'm still seeing reflector errors today.

I checked both of your reflectors and they were up and connected when I checked. We'll look at the server logs some more, but it doesn't appear we are seeing connection drops (which is what you are having) at a higher rate than normal. The reflector tunnels are a persistent socket connection, which is susceptible to being broken/close by both your networking equipment, ISP, and routers all long the path to our hosted server. Indigo rebuilds the connection when it detects it has been broken, which is what your log is showing.

Are you continuing to see errors are both systems? Is it failing at the same rate as before?

One system had one error the other had many.

The one that had several drops also shows that the many of the attempts to recreate the connection fail when they are retried after 5 seconds, which results in Indigo trying again in 15 minutes. All of the attempts that are tried 15 minutes later succeed. It really looks like your ISP is having some issues (or your router / home network). Unfortunately, there isn't much Indigo can do in this case except continue to periodically retry the connection. I'd suggest you definitely restart your Mac and all networking equipment in the house to see if that helps.

You could also open the Terminal window and copy/paste in:

ping indigodomo.net

then just let it run indefinitely to see if there are periodic errors trying to reach our hosted server.

I am still getting frequent reflector errors. However I am able to access the reflector through my browser and receive current information, so this appears to be a periodic connection problem. I am having no problems that I am aware of with my ISP - Spectrum. Yesterday's error logs follow.

Incidentally, I am no longer having occasional crashes of my mac mini running Indigo and WeatherSnoop since I updated to Catalina 10.15.6 with its USB fixes.

Looks like a DNS error, maybe. Try changing from your ISP's DNS servers to OpenDNS or Google or some other public DNS servers.

Hello, everyone. running Indigo 7.5 on a Mac Mini running macOS 11.2.3. The ISP is AT&T LTE.

We are getting recurrent error .

Our Reflector URL seems to load reliably. Indigo Touch seems to work reliably. After a fresh restart of Mac Mini, the reflector error seems to go away for a short while.

In addition to the Reflector error we are also experiencing recurring errors with Python scripts that had been working perfectly for 3+ years. A salient part of the Python script error reads
It was suggested to me that the "server closed the connection" could also point to a general networking problem as opposed to a new problem with scripts that have been in place for years. FlyingDiver is kind enough to have contributed to that discussion in this thread.

After we restart the Mac Mini, both errors stop for a matter of minutes or hours. Right after restart we can manually execute the Python script and the intended action occurs (motorized shades move). But after a few minutes the script fails and we get the errors again.

Where should I direct my attention? What do you suspect is happening if network problems creep in after a restart? Problem at the router or software (reinstall macOS or Indigo?) or possible hardware problem at Mac Mini?

What kind of internet connection do you have?

The ISP is AT&T LTE. We've been using LTE for more than a year without these errors. The most recent change I'm aware of is the macOS update.
