Benefits of Reflector

I am really embarrassed to ask this, but I figured I’d ask before interrupting Matt and Jay’s dinners to activate my reflector:

If I am using a registered domain that points to my dynamic WAN IP, what are the pros/cons of using a Reflector?

Benefit I can think of is the mitigated risk of:
a) an open port on my firewall with Digest auth
b) somebody snooping my home IP via my server from my iphone via a man in the middle exploit (i think i used that right), though Reflector might allow this too
c) ... um... uh. I’m out

Downsides:
a) Refreshing image frequency?

As a 6 year dedicated user, I’ve only used Reflector when I was double-NAT’d in a fancy apartment building.

Ease of set up and no maintenance/fiddling as a pro for the reflector?

Here are a couple of others:

  • TLS (https) for all communications
  • It's likely that later this year when we implement OAuth authentication (for use with services like Alexa and Google Home) it will use the reflector for communication.

Whoah, awesome on both accounts! Um, that said, how do I activate my reflector?
