One user on here has a .mp3 of a dog barking, which they sequentially play on speakers within the house culminating on one by the door. This gives the impression they have a dog and its moving about the house.

I’ve put some more thought into it since but at the time the outside light, a hall light (near the front door) and a lamp in a living room deeper in the house. Ironically, I think the delay in them running away was due to a delay in the lamp turning on because of z-wave network issues. Maybe it looked like someone was home and slowly turning on lights?

Staggering lights turning on throughout the house is my new theory. I’d like to try and make it look like someone’s home and are investigating. This is only good when the house is empty. When we’re home I don’t want a false positive freaking everyone out at 3am. So for now, when we’re home it’s the outside light only. As I get more confidence in Security Spy’s new AI I might revisit.

I’d be keen to hear yours and other people’s ideas?

Pete

That's great! Thanks for sharing. Great that the system scared them away (and provided photos).

What were your considerations in terms of which lights & actions to trigger under the circumstances?

Indigo + Plugins and Security Spy foil burglary attempt

My parents were traveling last week when two bozos attempted to break-in to their home. Indigo + plugins and Security Spy alerted my Dad (3,500 km or 2,200 miles away) who was able to call the police who then took chase. I live an hour away and was also alerted but peacefully slept through the whole thing...

Two neighbouring homes had already been burgled - One while residents were sleeping.

Security Spy detected motion which was picked up by the "Cynical SecuritySpy" plugin which triggered the "Image downloader and SecuritySpy helper" plugin to capture a still image and send it via the "Pushover" plugin. In reaction to the security Spy motion trigger, Indigo turned on external and internal lights which frightened the crooks away.
