Email Scan Authentication Failed

I finally gave Indigo it's own dedicated email address...put in the proper .me pop info and no matter what settings I give it I get the same error...even though this worked before on my main .me mail account. Any thoughts?

Re: Email Scan Authentication Failed

Are you seeing the error when trying to send emails or scan them? Can you copy/paste the error you see?

Re: Email Scan Authentication Failed

What exact settings are you using in the Indigo prefs dialog (except user name and password, of course)?

Re: Email Scan Authentication Failed

POP Server:
mail.me.com

Port
995

Use SSL

POP Username ********@me.com

Check Every 1 minute
Delete From Server

Re: Email Scan Authentication Failed

The user name should be everything to the left of the @ character (not the full email address).

If it still doesn't work, then have you put in a ticket with MobileMe to enable POP access?

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2138

By default they have it disabled for all accounts created after 7/10/2008.

Re: Email Scan Authentication Failed

I think this thread is about the same problem I am having. here is what I am doing

I am running on a MAC mini with Lion.
plug-ins:
Action Collection
Cynical SecuritySpy
DigiTemp
GoggleVoice SMS
NOAA Weather
WeatherSnoop
I get this error message about every 10 minutes.

Error email scan authentication failed

Any idea where I should go to correct the issue? most likely a password issue I think.

Re: Email Scan Authentication Failed

What email provider are you using? Apple's iCloud?

If so, that is the problem. iCloud no longer supports POP (just IMAP) and Indigo's email scanning client requires POP. Lots of Indigo users create dedicated gmail accounts, since that is free and works well.

Re: Email Scan Authentication Failed

I would like to use my Gmail. But i am sure of the settings.

Preferences ask for a POP server. How do I know what goes into each box?

What is the correct SMTP Server, Port, and do I check IUse SSL(TLS)

And thanks for your help!

Re: Email Scan Authentication Failed

Another quick question.

Should the email address in Preferences be my email address or the address that I have set up in gmail that is used in GoogleVoice SMS?

Re: Email Scan Authentication Failed

First, enable GMail POP:

http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answ ... swer=13273

And here are GMail's settings:

http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answ ... swer=13287

The email address needs to be that of your GMail account, otherwise the GMail server will reject it.
