Well it’s that time of year again. I’m not religious in the slightest but I do enjoy it just for the music, the tv specials and of course the copious amounts of food to consume. It’s been a tough year for me.. rounding off with losing my job a few months ago due to rather unfortunate anxiety and mental health issues (which in all fairness was actually a blessing in disguise.. sometimes I don’t think you can really recognise how toxic an environment you’re in until you’re clear of it.. besides I really didn’t enjoy working as a software tester). Of course this has resulted in me finally being able to get back to working on my indigo system and other things in general that have just stalled the last few years. I just wanted to thank everyone of you for being wonderful people keeping this community going.. and especially Matt for being a generally wonderful chap.. and Jay for being.. Jay! Seriously though.. you two are the best and I genuinely appreciate every bit of help you give out here!
It’s funny.. I started properly getting into home automation in 2009.. in the decade that’s passed it seems almost unrecognisable to what it was like back then.. I wonder what it’ll be like in 2029.. I’m sure I’ll still be desperately awaiting indigo 12 (think that’ll be the one that has the new IWS replacement?). I’m slightly terrified that as Apple, Google and Amazon slowly corner the market it’s going to actually make things more difficult for us.. more closed protocols and systems that won’t work without cloud access even although they have absolutely no need for it.. but I guess we’ll see. And indeed what the world will actually look like then.. will we still be spiralling around Brexit? Will Scotland be an independent nation? Will Trump be on his *4th* term in power..............
Anyway I’m gonna stop prattling on now. I’m looking forward to the next decade.. I’m finally (hopefully) going to have time to work on projects that have been on hold for a long time and I have a couple of ideas for plugins that I’m hoping to finally get my knowledge up to a reasonable level on to be able to make and publish..
I’m going to go watch The Snowman now.. tissues on standby.
