7.0.2 is not starting on restart or after crash on mini

OS X El Capitan 10.11.6
Indigo 7.0.2
Alexa-Hue Bridge plugin installed and working
[checked] Auto start Indigo Server on user login, auto relaunch if crash.

Notes:

Auto start Indigo Server on user login [, Auto relaunch if crash. is missing]

Also RE: http://wiki.indigodomo.com/doku.php?id=indigo_startup&s[]=boot

You can set your Mac to automatically log in to a specific user account at boot time in the Accounts system preference pane under Login Options.

Shouldn’t it say, “You can set your Mac to automatically log in to a specific user account at boot time in the Users & Groups system preference pane under Login Items.“

Re: 7.0.2 is not starting on restart or after crash on mini

Unfortunately, we had to remove the auto-relaunch if crash capability several years ago because of a macOS bug. However, it should be starting up on user login automatically. Are you sure it isn't? Note the Indigo Server has no UI, so if it starts up in the background the only way to know is to launch the Indigo Client to look at the Event Log window details (or use Terminal or Activity Monitor to see if the IndigoServer process is running).

We'll get the wiki updated – thanks for the report.

Re: 7.0.2 is not starting on restart or after crash on mini

I rebooted, then checked log as suggested. Indeed, Indigo 7 server had started. Since Indigo 7 didn't appear in the Force Quit list, I believed that the server hadn't started. Bad assumption, since Indigo 7 in that list refers to the client, not the server. Correct?

Thanks,

- Tom

Re: 7.0.2 is not starting on restart or after crash on mini

After a reboot of the Mac mini running Indigo, the Indigo server is relaunching correctly (I can control via e.g. the iPhone app).

But the client app is having difficulty finding the server (running on the same machine). I need to quit and manually relaunch the server for them to find each-other. It was a standard install on the same user account (or should have been!). Is there a workaround to this??

Re: 7.0.2 is not starting on restart or after crash on mini

Are you have the client start up as a macOS login item? That isn't recommended – it can try to start before the Indigo Server has started up and can accept connections. The client only really needs to start when you need to use/configure Indigo, so we recommend to use Indigo's built-in setting (in the Start Local Server dialog) to have the Indigo Server started then just launch the Indigo client when you need to use it. That will actually lower the CPU usage that Indigo Server needs if it doesn't have to communicate with a client.
