Turning our Home into a Smart Home

Thanks to Indigo and this excellent forum I'm well on the way to make our home smarter. I was going to say smarter and cheaper but that would be kind of an oxymoron but it certainly is fun... when it all works :)

Thought I'd share what I have so-far.

I'm in the process of automating the heck out of my home as well. I read your blog, and the status display you have created looks pretty cool.

Any chance of sharing that cool tool?

Yes, re the sharing but I have to make it somewhat generic first. At the moment changes are done to the program itself and recompiled. Once I have a better handle on what I want I'll add a preferences section for external configuration.

In the meantime I'm hoping that a Python/MySQL expert will add a device status table to the MySQL DB in addition to the excellent history ones Matt has done.
