[ANSWERED] PowerLinc 2413U interface not seeing X10 Events

Up till a couple of weeks ago my 2413 saw X10 events that I used to trigger events. Has anyone else seen this or do you have any ideas on what would cause this?

I can send X10 events and they work but I never see other sent X10 events.

Thanks for any help!

Re: PowerLinc 2413U interface not seeing X10 Events

There have been a couple reported cases of X10 receiving and/or transmitting ceasing to work on the 2413U (most of the time INSTEON continues to work fine). I'd try plugging the 2413U into the same circuit/outlet as one of your X10 transmitters (tip: use an extension cord) to better rule out a signal problem. If that doesn't show up in the Event Log then I think it has malfunctioned.

If I need to replace the 2413U what is the best option?

Thanks!

The 2413U is still our recommended INSTEON controller (overall they have proven to be reliable). I'd try to get it swapped out, presuming you bought it within the last 2 years.

For Z-Wave modules we recommend the Z-Stick Series 2.

Re: [ANSWERED] PowerLinc 2413U interface not seeing X10 Even

I have had this happen twice now. I replaced the first 2413U unit which stopped receiving x10 within 3 months of installation and this one has worked for about six months before also losing all X10 reception.

I wish I didn't need to see X10 but my problem is that we have a whole house VISONIC security system that sends out x10 signals and I capture those for motion and door openings/closings so really need that X10 connectivity. But replacing these doohickeys is expensive if it is twice a year...

They have a 2 year warranty so you shouldn't be paying for replacements. I know the Indigo Store will replace them via warranty if that's where you bought it originally.

Re: [ANSWERED] PowerLinc 2413U interface not seeing X10 Even

The 2413U stopped receiving X10 and I tried EVERYTHING. I reset PRAM in case the USB connection somehow locked up. I reset the 2413U and resynced all the links. I unplugged it and the X10 transceiver from power and the 2413U from USB and 'let them rest'. I restarted the server software, shut down and restarted the machine, and nothing worked. I spent hours. I then ordered a replacement from Amazon and was going to call it a day.

Ok. So here is the weird part :

After I gave up and was walking out of the office I double-tapped the INSTEON dimmer in there to turn off all the lights in the office - it causes a trigger that then shuts down the various INSTEON and X10 devices in the room. To my surprise, after it did that I started hearing the various DINGS associated from receiving X10 signals from various motion detectors coming from the server. I looked in the log and sure enough all of a sudden a FLOOD of X10 signals hit all at the same time - right after the trigger that shuts down the office ran. Now, everything is back to normal.

I'm utterly confused - though everything is working again. Any thoughts on why this would be happening?

To note - the insteon dimmer I double tapped is a two wire dimmer, should that make a difference.

Re: [ANSWERED] PowerLinc 2413U interface not seeing X10 Even

I think it's just a bad 2413U - something is causing the X10 part of the interface to not work consistently.
