Colour under pointer

Hey!

I'm sure this is dead simple!
To be able to read the pixel colour under the pointer/finger.

Would make colour selection for say coloured lighting a dream.

Easy Peasey Lemon Squeezey???

Re: Colour under pointer

If I'm understanding your request, the standard color picker allows you to do that using the little eyedropper icon at the bottom.

I'm assuming you mean in the Mac client app though you weren't specific...

Re: Colour under pointer

Sorry jay !

I wasn't clear at all ! :-)
I mean as a control page option .
So the colour under the 'finger' goes into some global variable .
Colour picking in a control page then becomes easy :-)

Re: Colour under pointer

Do you mean a control on a control page that lets the user select a color? Unfortunately, this is a non-trivial request since 1) we don't have any color picking abilities in any clients and 2) variable values are inherently strings and we don't provide for any other kind of editing controls for them.

I believe adding color picking to the clients is already on the request list. Using different kinds of editors for variable values is also there though no specifically for color picking. No ETA of course and there are a TON of control page feature requests piled up.

Re: Colour under pointer

No probs jay
If the client can't read the colour then it is tricky . Of course you could have indigo simply read the pixel position within a graphic and read the colour off the real graphic in indigo server ; yeah ? If that makes sense !! :-)
Then there's no need for an 'indigo control page colour picker ' as everyone could make their own .
I presume indigo can str() :-) string to integer or similar ....

Re: Colour under pointer

Lol - I'm either confused or got it wrong !
Indigo server knows when a control page icon has been selected ( touch / mouse - whatever ). I assume it's possible to get the relative offset 'touched' within the selected icon e.g position minus top left .
Can't the indigo server then read the pixel at the offset within the actual graphic on the server ? I.e you've got a colour picker !
Hope that's clearer :-//

Re: Colour under pointer

Well, anything is possible. The question is, is it the right way to implement color selection? (Hint: no)

Re: Colour under pointer

No ? . It means the user can design any style or type of colour selector just by designing a graphic . Thought that would be better than a 'default ' indigo control page one ( no offence ) - just seemed much more flexible . Of course I have no idea what you have planned .....
