Views and Rooms

Perhaps a simple UI change is an option to show devices as organized by groups. I find it cumbersome to have to investigate all the device groups to see if a certain device is a member.

If you don't know which folder a device is in, you could go to the top/main Devices folder and find the device there - there's a column showing which folder the device is in.

And/or use the search facility to filter the list to the device name to speed up the finding.

Yes you are correct that folders can be rooms but then I can't have my current folder structure which is based on device type/ usage e.g. Thermostats, Security, Power, Lights etc. So I guess aliases would work, but ideally I would like to see folders with sub-folders and devices being able to be in more than one folder.

So maybe Smart Folders would do the business?

It would be nice to be able to do something like:

Rooms
• Downstairs
  • Living Room
  • Dining Room
  • Kitchen
  • Utility Room
  • CloakRoom
• Upstairs
  • Bedroom 1
  • Bedroom 2
  • Bedroom 3
  • Bathroom
• Outside
  Front Garden
  • Back Garden
  • Pool
• Thermostats
  • Stella-Z
  • Danfoss
• Power
  • Smappee
  • Z-Wave Power
• etc, etc ...

Obviously the categories / hierarchy / sub-folders to be able to be user defined and folder to be collapsible as they currently are.
