Dim Lights with Apple TV?

I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a way to make this work?

What I woould like to do is dim the lights in my Media room when I begin playing a movie and raise them back up should the movie be paused.

The setup I am currently using is this:

Sony 60 Smart TV (Controled with ITach)
Sony STR-DN850 Receiver (Controled with ITach)
Apple TV (Controolled with Itach)
8TB Raid Seagate Blackarmor Harddrive (used for movie storage)
Mac Mini (running indigo and Itunes)

My entire DVD collect has been changed over to digital and stored on the Seagate Drives. I use Itunes with home sharing to link to the Apple TV....pretty basic.
But because nothing is linked to indigo to show current state such as playinf or paused I am unsure if I can do what I want to. The Itunes plugin in indigo doesn't work in relation to apple TV in a sense that Itunes can be paused in indigo but Apple TV can be playing the movie.

Anyone know how this can be done or if it can be at all?

If it's a 2nd gen appletv you could jailbreak it and install aircontrol, which in turn would let you use the aircontrol plugin to setup triggers for different states. Alas if you don't want to jailbreak or its 3rd gen I don't believe there's much you can do right now.

I'd like to know this as well. I thought I could achieve this with Airfoil & its plugin by dimming lights when Apple tv is turned on but never got this working.

Now I'm studying if this is possible with pybonjour Python interface but no luck (or not enough time) yet.
