[ANSWERED]Sending Raw Command for Default Brightness

Has anyone been able to get the raw commands for default brightness to work?

Some time ago I thought I had the correct entries to do it but changing the D3 byte apparently
isn't correct.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Carl

Re: Sending Raw Command for Default Brightness

Maybe default brightness can be set some other way, Python?

Thanks,

Carl

Re: Sending Raw Command for Default Brightness

This looks like the original thread where this was discussed before. Your screenshot looks like what nsheldon there recommended. You might want to post on that thread to see if he (or anyone else) has any ideas.

Note I wouldn't expect this technique to work on pre-i2CS firmware modules.

Re: Sending Raw Command for Default Brightness

Sounds like the "Send Raw Command" is experimental and undocumented?

Thanks,

I'm not sure what you are referring to (can you quote it?). Indigo's Send Raw INSTEON Command should work (no outstanding problems).

Re: Sending Raw Command for Default Brightness

Just curious how someone would learn to use it.
Can't find anything on it in the docs.

Thanks,

Carl

Re: Sending Raw Command for Default Brightness

Are you wanting to know how to use the action/UI, or are you referring to trying to figure out what bytes to fill in for a specific the command?

The latter is something Smarthome has in their SDK and is a bit outside the scope of the Send Raw Command feature itself. Unfortunately, not all commands are documented and it can be difficult to know what commands work with which modules (and which firmware versions).

Re: Sending Raw Command for Default Brightness

The menu item and action are in the documentation but because they are extremely advanced and as Matt points out you should have access to the INSTEON SDK to get the necessary data to use them, we didn't spend a lot of time on the docs. Anyone that understands the SDK is likely to understand those actions.

Gotcha, thanks guys. Have to dig into that more.
