KeypadLinc and trigger

hi!

Can you guys help me out here, i'm confused to what the problem is.....

I have 4 Keypad linc that button 3,4,5,6 trigger event or scenes

For example button 6 on any device is set to trigger when OFF is received the turn everything off.....

The scene works when trigger with indigo, but it's a hit and miss when the kepadlinc is used.

the funny part is that everything in the log happens the way it should, except nothing get close.
here is the log output:
Received INSTEON "Multiswitch Sous-Sol (fan)" off (button 6)
Trigger All off

The trigger work is i execute it on indigo! CONFUSED?!?

Re: KeypadLinc and trigger

If it always shows the trigger firing when you hit the button, then you need to look at your actions and try to figure out why they aren't firing. Depending on what the actions are, you likely should see some more lines in the event log showing the actions completing.

Re: KeypadLinc and trigger

Ok but when I hit "Execute Actions Now" it works fine or when I try the scene on it's own too it works.
Conditions is set to "Always"

Re: KeypadLinc and trigger

Again, if it's showing in the log then it's firing correctly and you need to look at your actions for the problem.

Re: KeypadLinc and trigger

Also copy/paste bigger chunks from the Event Log so we can get a better idea of what is happening before/after.

Re: KeypadLinc and trigger

Ok I understand that the trigger is working and we have established that it's the action that need to be looked at.

That Trigger/action combo is been running since version 5 if not 4, and all of a sudden is flaky at best.....

2 thing happened since the problem got way worse to the point of it working 1 times out of 10.

I change computer for a much more powerful one and upgraded indigo to version 7.

Also need to understand something else for my own knowledge hitting the "Execute Actions Now" on the trigger menu on the lower right corner doesn't that test the action?

here is the log, not much happens
Code: Select all

Re: KeypadLinc and trigger

I deleted the trigger, rebuild a new one and it worked once super fast and then never did again.

Hard for us to diagnose further without knowing what the actions are...

Re: KeypadLinc and trigger

I get a sense that I'm irritating you JAY! lol
I'm extremely confused to why I have that problem, because I know Indigo quite a been on it since the version 2, so my understanding of your software is quite good. Ok I admit I do have my "blonde moment" here and there but....

I'm not sure why all my trigger that comes from a Keypadlinc don't work, it's not just one it's most of them........
I have 3 keypadlinc (old models) 6 buttons, obviously button 1-2 are the on and 7-8 are the off on the main load.
3-4-5-6 or a-b-c-d are triggers for stuff, mostly scenes.... and they rarely work..
For instance button 6 or D is a trigger for an all off scenes.

Re: KeypadLinc and trigger

The last log snippet you have a few posts above is of a case where it worked though, correct (I see the Sent INSTEON line in there)?

I want to see log examples where it did not work and I'd like it to include several (a couple of dozen) log lines both before and after it failed so I can get context as to what is occurring.

Also, when it fails, if you are near the Mac at the time, what does the Indigo progress bar area show? Is it empty, or is it stuck with green bars? And is there any text displayed?

Sent INSTEON                    "PowerLinc Interface" off (instant) (scene 3 - All off except outside)

First 2 occurrence worked and last 2 didn't.

The powerlinc Status bar at the bottom behave normally.

The test next the status bar list my device PowerLinc 2413U.

Re: KeypadLinc and trigger

But the log is showing the Send INSTEON lines indicating that the PowerLinc has sent the command:

Sent INSTEON "PowerLinc Interface" off (instant) (scene 3 - All off except outside)

In your first post you said the action doesn't occur at all, but in the log above the action is indeed firing every single time. That doesn't mean the modules are getting the command since PowerLinc scene commands are not acknowledged, but it does mean the PowerLinc reported to Indigo the command went out.

How many modules are supposed to respond to scene 3? Do any of them respond in the failure cases? What happens if you duplicate the action so that Indigo sends out the scene command 2 or 3 times – does that improve reliability?

Re: KeypadLinc and trigger

I did say and now it's starting to work a bit more..... 2 time out 4 so far...
They have been occurence that the trigger was received and nothing went out. I can send the entire log for a couple day to look into if you wish.

Just did another test that on the indigo software itself...
All on, then all Off, on worked and off also
All on, then all Off, on worked and off also
All on, then all Off, on worked and off also
All on, then all Off, on worked and off didn't hit again and some light closed but not all, did all off 3 times in order for all of them to close..... with a reasonable delay between the attempt.

47 INSTEON devices are in that scene..

Re: KeypadLinc and trigger

If you can find a specific case where the log shows the Trigger but not the action then I'd like to see that, as that is a very different problem than it showing the action but the modules being inconsistent about responding to it. The latter is just an INSTEON signal problem (or a marginal PowerLinc).
