Device states - Can they be changed?

I have several devices which in the Indigo UI show states as "on" or "off" but for these devices it really does not make sense; for blinds is "off" = open or closed.. same with garage door. As I have added devices to my system and as I continue to use the mobile app it has become somewhat confusing to remember what off and on mean for each device. Can the device state labels be changed or customized for each device?

You cannot change them as that is coded into either the plugin they are associated with or the program. You can take a look at my
Device Extensions plugin as I designed it for sort of this reason.
