Looking for a SPDT relay

I am looking for a relay with off, on, on positions (i believe thats a SPDT) that I can control via Indigo. Suggestions?

Re: Looking for a SPDT relay

If your looking to control DC there are a few and they make AC versions but not linked below, threads below will give you some ideas:

That's your SPDT etc diagrams, which don't sound to be what you're wanting, directly.

Unless it's for something like this, which would require two SPDT relays:

Re: Looking for a SPDT relay

You can get a mechanical switch with an open position in the middle, but not a relay. A relay can only have two states and what you're asking for has three.

To do what you want requires two separate relays. And some non-obvious wiring to make sure both can't be on at the same time. Howartp's diagram works for that.

Re: Looking for a SPDT relay

What the problem to use any relay with two outputs - switch off one first, enable second and vice versa?

To simulate SPDT?

Re: Looking for a SPDT relay

I should have added more information to my original post. The relay(s) need to control a 10amp two stage motor (off, low, high). If I used two relays they need to be wired in such a way that the two relays wont stay on at the same time.

Right now I am using two insteon on/off switches and hope that the software will turn one off before the other turns on. I need something better than hope.

Howardp's wiring diagram does this for you, using two SPDT relays.

Re: Looking for a SPDT relay

I have a similar situation and used the same wiring configuration using two relays. All good there. However, in my case, each relay can only be powered for a 1 sec. Therefore, I need a way to have on off on. Indigo can handle the timing, but I can't seem to find a way to do the on off on triggering, without using two separate Mimolites.

Any suggestions for better solution for the on off on triggering?

Thanks in advance.
