Sorry for a delay but here is a description of my solution - I hope it will help you to setup yours.
Assumptions:
1. D1-Dimmer - controls the lamp
2. S12-Relay switch with 2 relays: relay 1 controls the main light, relay 2 controls Dimmer D1 through association
3. Double mono switch with connected S12

Setup:
Association - set association for Group 2 in S12 with D1
Dimmer control - set parameter 15=1 in S12 co allow controlling a Dimmer
Dimer settings - set option in D1 "Enable double click to full brightness"

This way you can fully control a light source connected to a Dimmer with mono switch 2 connected to S12:
- short press: ON/OFF
- double click: full brightness
- long press: dimming up/down

I hope it's been helpful.

I'll have to try this out.. i'm assuming this would work even if indigo server were disabled for some reason?

Thanks Richo - it will be a few days before I get to try it.

I'm assuming, like Durosity, that this will work without Indigo as associations are between devices once configured? Indigo is just the controller that configures the associations?

Yippee!

It works great.

Even better when you work out why it keeps turning back on after you turned it off.

(The motion sensor picks you up and turns it back on, as it's supposed to!)

Re: Dimming Fibaro dimmer with Fibaro Relay switch

So i've finally had a chance to sit down and play with this.. and it works great.. except it only seems to see some devices that are supported, so for example a fibaro dual relay shows up the primary switch but not the secondary one, and the universal sensor shows input 2 but not input 1. Any ideas?

Doesn't the Fibaro manual says something about only supporting associating the primary? (Completely off top of my head)
