7.1 install is not a happy bunny.

I am getting communication problems with the latest version of Indigo (7.1) This is installed in Macmini running Yosemite and indigo 7.03, and has been stable for some time. For some reason I decided to update to the latest version and now I'm getting communication issues with my Aeotec S5 stick

This has happened now twice in the space of 24 hrs without any changes to the network. Any clues to why an update like this should cause some much carnage. I know I can resync the devices, but I'm due to be away from home for the next 4 days and if it happens while I'm away its going to be frustrating.

Re: 7.1 install is not a happy bunny.

Hi Colin,

I don't think this problem is specific to 7.1. We've had a couple of reports of it happening before 7.1 (and you are the first one to report it under 7.1). It occurs when the Z-Stick gets in a bad state. It then reports to Indigo bad information for all the modules that are included in the Z-Stick. Indigo compares what the Z-Stick module information is to what it used to be (when it was included and first sync'd) and if it doesn't match Indigo disables communication with the module. It has to do this, because from Indigo's perspective it is a different module now. To Indigo it is as if you have swapped in a different Z-Stick that has totally different modules included in it.

Most of the time the problem is transient, but Indigo doesn't automatically correct and re-enable the communication with the devices. You can manually re-enable the communication by right-clicking on the devices in the main window and choosing the menu item to Enable Indigo Communication. You do not have to do a full re-sync. Try re-enabling a few of them, then restart the Z-Stick interface in Indigo (or just unplug it and plug it back in). If Indigo doesn't re-disable the communication (and log errors), then I think you are good to proceed with re-enabling the communication for all the devices.

If the problem continues to happen, then I think either your Z-Stick has malfunctioned, or it is still in a bad state. You can try factory resetting it to see if that helps, but note that you'll have to exclude and re-include all of your modules if you do that.

Re: 7.1 install is not a happy bunny.(resolved)

Thanks Matt for the explanation, certainly puts my mind at ease. I had already gone through and re-established communications, and so far ( 24 hrs later) all appears to have settled down. its the first time that I've had any issues with this Z-Stick so you can understand how I linked the updated software with the loss of communications.
Keep up the good work.
Cheers

Colin
