Alarm system

Hi All,

New here and not sure if this is in the right place so apologies if not.

I am looking towards restarting in home automation but obviously this time with indigo.

I am also going to install a new alarm system as part of my house renovation and wondered if anyone can recommend which alarm system to use in the UK that would integrate with Indigo perhaps?

Obviously I can go with a separate app/ control interface but if there was something that worked with Indigo that would be brilliant.

Many Thanks,

Tim

Re: Alarm system

I've written a plugin for the Texecom Premier range of panels, if that's any help.

Re: Alarm system

It’d be interesting if you can publish that. I’m firmly entrenched in the DSC alarm panels but I do like to play with plugins to see how they work, useful in case the need ever arises :)

Re: Alarm system

I'm using DSC with the indigo plugin.

I've got racarters Texecom plugin but haven't got round to connecting it to my Church Texecom alarm to play with yet; as a system I prefer the Texecom to DSC.

Re: Alarm system

You should always look through the plugin list for things like this. There is a security subsection that lists a variety of security-related plugins.

Re: Alarm system

A second vote for the publishing of the Texecom plugin.

In terms of alarm credibility I had narrowed it down to either texecom or pyronix.

Texecom is the most rated/ recommended alarm system in many highly regarded opinions so I would like to go with them.

It may be a UK issue but I think for DIY home automation we seem to be more limited in choice than our cousins.

Ill get quotes next week and hopefully will have a mac mini with indigo on it in time for the install.

Re: Alarm system

The Texecom plugin is available in the File Library. It was in the Hardware Integration section, but I've moved it to Security. I've also moved my Netatmo Welcome Camera plugin to Security.

In the plugin list? I don't believe anyone can edit that except us... :?:

I'd be happy to add them if you'll point me to the forum posts that announce them - I try to catch them all as they're posted on the forums but sometimes I do miss them.

Jay

My mistake; File Library. I'll edit my previous post to avoid confusion.

I've mentioned some of my plugins here:

viewtopic.php?f=134&t=17226

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=17692

viewtopic.php?f=134&t=17225

They're all 'in production' now, with quite a few users.

Re: Alarm system

Ah, I think I see the problem. None of those posts had actual links to download the plugin. I don't actually add them to the plugin lists until I know that users can actually get them. Now that you have them all in the File Library, I'd recommend editing each of those posts to point to them. Users tend to search the forums for stuff more than the Library so I expect many never actually found them.

I'll add them to the Plugin Lists and promote them on social media in the coming days.

Hopefully a premier elite. Can't recommend Alan's plugins highly enough (if your house is being done consider Heatmiser neo), plus the texecom panels themselves, once you figure out the setup. I've got a pretty large setup so shout if you have questions when you come to install.
Have you seen the new texecom connect app??

Ooh, app looks interesting.

Is it better than their older cr*p ones?

I haven't upgraded my panel firmware yet to test. Been busy migrating indigo to a new mac and dealing with those issues, and getting iTravel working.

When I used Vera I relied on the texecom app a lot but now with Indigo I don't really feel there need for their app, not that I can use it as the indigo plugin uses the IP connection which prevents the texecom app working. It's still on my list to see if I can get either working via serial2IP on a rPi
