Upgrade from 6 to 7 and new hardware in one move

I am currently running Indigo 6 on a 2007 Mac Mini. I have decided to upgrade to Indigo 7 and I am therefore forced to upgrade the hardware to a newer Mac Mini (I got a used Mac mini, A1283 (Late 2009), 2,26 GHz, 2 GB ram running El Capitan.)

I plan to install Indigo 7 on my new Mac Mini as well as driver for the Aeotec Z-stick 2.

Any suggestions as how to perform this double upgrade in a smooth and hopefully hassle free way? I regularly take a back up of the Perceptive Automation folder. But I doubt that I can just paste that folder into Indigo 7.

Any advice is highly appreciated.

Re: Upgrade from 6 to 7 and new hardware in one move

I'd start by moving your Indigo 6 install to the new Mac (be sure to run the latest Indigo 6 installer - that will fix any permission errors that might have happened during the move). Start up Indigo 6 and make sure everything is running fine.

Then upgrade to Indigo 7. By doing it in these discrete steps, you'll reduce the number of things changing at any given step and will help resolve issues faster. Hopefully there will be no issues and it'll just go smoothly.

Great, thanks for quick reply.

I will follow your suggestion. Can I copy-paste the Perceptive Automation folder into the new Indigo 6 install on my new Mac?

Re: Upgrade from 6 to 7 and new hardware in one move

I followed your advice: Moved Indigo 6 to the new Mac (installed the needed driver forZ-stick gen 2, and copy-pasted the Indigo 6 folder into the new installation). Then bought the upgrade, downloaded Indigo 7, installed and within minutes everything worked including Indigo Touch and my Hue plugin. I followed the advice of reusing passwords. I am actually quite impressed how smooth everything went.

So great job guys.

Good to hear. BTW, the FTDI driver install probably wasn't necessary since Mac OS X has included it since 10.9.

Re: Upgrade from 6 to 7 on Snow Leopard?

Hi Jay,
I would love to buy the upgrade to Indigo 7, but I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on the Indigo Mac. Your release notes for 7, state that you need Mac OS 10.7.5 or better?
Can Indigo 7 be installed on 10.6.8?
I have other programs that won't run above 10.6.8, and there are features that Apple removed after 10.6.8 that I need.

Nope, we require 10.7 for Indigo 7.
