Amazon Prime Fire Tablet Sale

Just a heads up in case anyone is thinking of jumping in to add tablet control (or expand their existing control) -- the Fire has been reported to be one of the best, most cost effective tablets on the market for this purpose and there are reportedly multiple sales and offers of them during Prime Day starting tonight (I think). At least one report has been confirmed to be the 7" model for $29.99. And reports (without price) that the other model(s) will also have discounts.

For $30 my son might get a new Clash of Clans device even! :)

Yep, it begins at 9pm EST tonight and last for 30 hours. They're going to have lots of flash sales too, rumors are the Echos will be 50% off and Echo Dots will be $35 or less. They have a 3-Pack deal on now, $20 off a 3-pack. If you're thinking of a getting a Fire tablet to play with, go for the 8". It isn't much more money but has a substantially better screen and feels more responsive than the 7". Although my 5 1/2 year-old daughter uses the 7" literacy all the time and doesn't have any problems with it, and it works fine for Domopad, the 8 is still much better. Amazon will even bill you in small monthly chunks!!

And everyone knows you’re actually Durosity, Jay. This alter-ego is just your way of getting the real ‘you’ out into the world.

Terry -- do you know if when you install Google Play Services, does that let things sync with Play Games (obviously this question is for son's use, not HA usage). I'm unsure what services are installed with that package.

There is a 3-Pack of the Fire 8 for $120. That ain't a bad deal...

If only... heck, in a moment of weakness I might actually fly the corporate jet over the pond to visit Durosity.

Sorry, just saw this - I'm not sure to be honest. I have ZERO games on any of my devices and despite being in IT for most of my adult life, have never been into games - unless you counts Frogger, Galaga, etc. back in the eighties.... :|

My daughter uses all Fire-based games available through the Kids-edition so no syncing with Google Play there. I'll be happy to try something, but I'm at work now and without a Fire nearby so it would be this evening...

The 3-Pack is a great deal. Too bas I just bought the wife a car and am so poor at the moment, otherwise I'd grab that. 3 more would wrap things up nicely around the house. Of course then I need a 3D printer to make some nice wall-mounts for them...

Re: Amazon Prime Fire Tablet Sale

Have a couple questions about using an Amazon Fire tablet and DomoPad...

I have control pages setup and run fine with Indigo Touch and my iPad. But know zip about Android, getting Android apps onto Fire Tablets (is "side loading" still necessary), etc.

Will Indigo control pages that work on my iPad via Indigo Touch work the same on a Fire using DomoPad? Or do I need to create new control page versions for the Fire? Also, are there any issues getting DomoPad loaded onto a Fire?

Thanks for any help!

Re: Amazon Prime Fire Tablet Sale

That's what I also wanted to ask too.
Do we need to hack the Fire somehow to get Domopad running on them?
