Re: Same issue on Mac Pro

I have tried making sure the module is the only USB device connected to the machine. I've tried the module in several outlets (including using an extension cord to get to a far away outlet). Given that the Mac Pro is one of only a few Macs available, not a very unusual coincidence at all. If you've tried all the things on the above referenced signal troubleshooting page, you might try factory resetting the PowerLinc as well. If that doesn't work, then its most likely a bad PowerLinc (I had one of my testing units go out just last week - and it's not very old).

I forgot to mention that I had already tried the factory reset as well. I tried the module on my MacBook Pro which allowed me to go all around the house trying different outlets as well and the same problem exists, so I'm pretty sure this must just be bad module. I'll get a hold of Smarthome tomorrow and try to get a replacement.

Re: PowerLinc 2414U & 64 bit

I ended up buying a new PowerlincV2 2414U because my last one was out of warranty. The new one is experiencing a similar, but different issue. When I plug the new module in, I get:

Code: Select all
May 18, 2010 8:14:51 PM
Connected to SmartHome PowerLinc USB E
PowerLinc address 14.88.BD, firmware version 2.13
PowerLinc          Internal PowerLinc (IndigoApp) application mismatch
PowerLinc          Uploading internal PowerLinc application (IndigoApp)...
Error              resending previous command (checksum mismatch)
Error              resending previous command (checksum mismatch)
Error              resending previous command (checksum mismatch)
Error              resending previous command (checksum mismatch)
Error              resending previous command (checksum mismatch)
Error              resending previous command (checksum mismatch)
Error              resending previous command (checksum mismatch)
Error              failed to establish connection with main interface

For this new module, it is 100% consistent. Every time it does exactly the same thing. The only match for this message is a post from 3 years ago, but in my case the problem is with the initial connection, so there is no way to go to the preferences and tell it to reflash the app as it doesn't even complete the connect sequence. I'm going to try it on my MBP to see if it has the same issue, but wondering if there is something obvious I'm doing wrong here.

Re: PowerLinc 2414U & 64 bit

Either you got a malfunctioning replacement 2414U, or you have bad power line noise. The latter can cause the PowerLinc to get confused and fail to properly communicate with Indigo.

Try plugging the 2414U into different outlets. Since you are just troubleshooting, use an extension cord if needed. Also swap the USB cable and try different USB ports. I don't believe that is the problem, but it wouldn't hurt to rule out.

Re: PowerLinc 2414U & 64 bit

I just finished reading all the posts because I am also having the same problem with my Mac Pro running 10.6.3. (See attached)
The problem seem to develop after one of the last updates, and it is getting progressively worse. For awhile if I left it alone over night it would reconnect itself and start turning lights on and off the next day. Now I can't get any sort of connection response from my PowerLinc 2414U. Maybe that was just a coincidence. I also downloaded the IndigoOverrides.kext but it didn't work. I just placed an order for a PowerLinc Modem - INSTEON USB Interface (Dual-Band) Item# 2413U. Any other suggestions? I just reloaded the Version 4.1.8, do I need to go in and remove the IndigoOverrides.kext, or does the reload accomplish that?

Frustrated............

Re: PowerLinc 2414U & 64 bit

Based on your Event Log, IndigoOverrides is installed and working correctly. It wouldn't be able to connect and get the firmware info from it at all if it wasn't.

Your 2414U is either malfunctioning, or you have some excessive power line noise which is causing the 2414U to fail to communicate with Indigo properly. Try plugging the 2414U into different outlets and circuits. Use an extension cord if needed since we are just troubleshooting. If that doesn't help, then your 2414U is malfunctioning and I suspect your 2413U will work fine.

Re: PowerLinc 2414U & 64 bit

I put it on an extension, but doesn't seem to help. I still get "failed to establish connection with main interface' on event log.

It appears to be hung up on "UploadingTrigger and time" (se attached) Anyway to stop the Upload......I've tried everything, and it keeps trying to connect even with the main interface not connected.

Re: PowerLinc 2414U & 64 bit

Stopping the Indigo Server or rebooting your Mac should get it to stop uploading. Looks like your 2414U has malfunctioned.

Tried what you suggested to stop the "Uploading Trigger and Time", but can't make it stop. Any other suggestions?

Uplugged PowerLinc power and then reconnected power. These are the Event Log errors

Re: PowerLinc 2414U & 64 bit

Restarting your Mac didn't help? Even with the 2414U USB cable unplugged?

When does it show the Uploading progress window: when you first launch Indigo, when you quit the Indigo client, or when you stop the Indigo Server (via the Indigo 4 menu)?

To check out your response. Rebooted computer with PowerLinc unplugged from power. After start up reapplied power to Powerlinc
This Event log after.

Then applied CONNECT command twice.

Then applied batch sync all links. This time the "Unload settings " didn't restart.
But, I still cannot make a connection to PowerLinc.

Re: PowerLinc 2414U & 64 bit

I think you are misunderstanding me. I was just trying to give you instructions on how to get Indigo to stop trying to upload to your PowerLinc. I don't have instructions on how to make your PowerLinc work -- it has malfunctioned.
