I'm not aware of any new end-user features.

I contacted Smarthome and they kindly sent me 5 replacement thermostats for my V2.0 units, and I had them installed for about a week. However, once installed they worked worse than the V2.0 units. For instance, I sent six up and then six down cool commands to each thermostat.They took forever to respond, just simply seeming to stall out. I thought some of my access points went bad. Then one of my appliance lincs, at some distance from the Indigo box, decided to not respond correctly. Finally they gave me a bogus temp value as noted below; the thermostat was reading 75 degrees.

I've put back the V2.0 units and the thermostats are working flawlessly again, with the series of up/down commands executing rapidly and accurately, and my appliance link is working again. Long story short, while it is possible they may have sent me a bad one or two, if my experience is representative, one might consider sticking with the V2.0 units.

Did you send the +6 and -6 setpoint commands back-to-back to all 5 thermostats without much delay between them? If so, I could see that causing quite a signal storm. The thermostats will broadcast out setpoint changes after they receive them, and if that broadcast occurred while Indigo was trying to send another thermostat a command (or a different thermostat was trying to do a broadcast) then I could see them getting in to a command collision war. That said, it should resolve itself without getting bogus temperature values.

What made the ApplianceLinc start working again? Did you just have to wait a couple of minutes for everything to settle down? And what did the Event Log look like during all of this?

Lastly, do you have the polling of the thermostats turned off in the Device dialog? They don't need to be polled, and the polling requires several INSTEON commands which will also increase the odds of collisions.

Yes. However, the rev 2.0 units work fine. Even when sending relatively slowly the other units bogged down. Indigo does not seem to be the issue here.

Can't explain the ApplianceLinc except that it stopped responding when these adapters were installed and now seems OK. A couple of event logs showing a series of "no acknowledgement" and also "checksum invalid" is below. Note that the cool set point is repeatedly set to 82 degrees????

Lastly, do you have the polling of the thermostats turned off in the Device dialog? They don't need to be polled, and the polling requires several INSTEON commands which will also increase the odds of collisions.

Polling is turned off. As soon as I replaced them with the old units, the thermostats all functioned normally.

Have you sent them back to Smarthome? They need to look into this. It looks like they are getting into a bad repeating state in this case. If you can reproduce the problem they will likely be interested in the details.

Have not yet sent them back, but I agree they will want to know. I also appended the prior post with a log showing "checksum invalid" errors.

Has anyone else upgraded to the new 2.4R stat adapter? Success, Failure?

SmartHome sent me two Venstar/INSTEON 2.4R replacement modules a few weeks ago. One of them is worse than any of the previous ones. I have had to pull it and replug it three times in about 3 weeks. It fails to respond and apparently clogs the wireless causing errors with communication to many other INSTEON devices. Oddly, this is the same thermostat that had the most problem over the last couple years. I wonder if the problem is in the Venstar instead of the INSTEON module.

Try swapping modules and thermostats and see if behavior is changed?

Agreed - swap the thermostats but leave the adapter in the same location and see if the problem follows the thermostat or stays with the adaptor.

Am currently using the v2.0 thermostat adapters. I've been getting repetitive sends from a couple of the adapters:

Hmmm. I believe Matt worked around a bug in the firmware that caused multiple duplicate messages but that was several versions ago. What's the firmware version number on those?
