Daily Interface Error Pop Up

Every day, I get the following error:

"Failed to establish connection or open serial port to interface
Make sure the correct interface type and port are chosen in the Preferences dialogue and that the serial device or adaptor are plugged in correctly."

To fix this issue, I don't have to unplug or do anything physically with the 2413U. Instead, I just disable to the Insteon interface and then enable it again. That fixes the issue for a few hours.

This has never happened before. How can I resolve it permanently?

Is your Mac going to sleep? Sometimes when the Mac first wakes up the serial connection to the PowerLinc won't come up correctly. It is a little surprising that it won't after a retry (I think 5 minutes later or something). But the main issue is that you should never allow your Mac to sleep since Indigo can't process logic while the Mac is asleep.

No, my Mac running Indigo is never allowed to go to sleep.

Ok. Look back through your log files to see if there are any errors before the interface disconnected. Also, does this happen at the same time every day?

Here is a screenshot of the log from the time I disable and re-enable, and everything that happens afterwards.

Re: Daily Interface Error Pop Up

This is either:

1) Bad USB cable or some other USB conflict. Try swapping the USB cable and plug it into different USB ports/hubs to see if that helps.

2) Excessive power line noise. Try plugging the PowerLinc into different outlets on different circuits (just for troubleshooting). The fastest way to do this is to use an extension cord so you don't have to move your Mac.

3) Malfunctioning PowerLinc. If you can rule out #1 and #2 above, then the PowerLinc is likely malfunctioning and needs to be replaced.
