I'll add it to the list. You can roll your own in AppleScript as a workaround however.

Hi Dan,

That is a good feature request -- I'll get that added to our grand feature candidate list. FYI, the earliest it would be added to Indigo would be to version 5.0.

I didn't notice Jay had already replied to this one. :-)

Newbie question: EZIO8SA, EZIO2X4, EZIO8T support in Indigo

I am thinking of replacing my house alarm system main unit with an EZIO85A to poll the triggers to know if they see open door magnetic switches etc.

When I read the MacHomeStore's description, I can't figure out if the EZIO85A runs all by itself as an Insteon device, or if I need another Insteon device that it plugs into.

NOTE: Indigo 2.0.5 or greater, in tandem with the INSTEON PowerLinc V2 Controller 2414U is required to use the EZIO8SA

I am seeing the above on http://www.machomestore.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=130, but I am still a little confused. I have one of these controllers, as that's how Indigo connects to my MacMini, but this device is on a different floor, and can't be directly wired into the EZIO85A.

What should I be buying? The EZIO85A solo or the EZIO85A with an dedicated 2414U?

[EDIT] Turns out I have an PowerLinc 2413U connected to my MacMini, and not a PowerLinc 2414U. I'm assuming this is OK...

Thanks,

Dave

Re: Newbie question: EZIO8SA, EZIO2X4, EZIO8T support in Ind

The PowerLinc 2413 is okay to use with the EZIO8SA, but you also need the EZIO8SA's PLM (PowerLinc Modem). The EZIO8SA by itself doesn't have any INSTEON capability, so you connect it via a cable to its PLM to provide the INSTEON receiving/sending ability. So you will want to also buy the PLM that it comes with.

Now that makes perfect sense - thanks!

I'd rethink this if you want quality security. EZIOs, unless its changed, aren't linkable, and dependent on a *running* Mac to respond to them. Macs do lock up and crash, and power goes out. A dedicated single use firmware of a dedicated security system is less likely to lock up/crash.
It really depends on what you expect/need from the security system.

Re: EZIO8SA, EZIO2X4, EZIO8T support in Indigo

I just had a (possibly) similar experience trying to sync links on my old EZIO6i last night. I haven't sync'ed it for awhile (and a few indigo versions ago), and now it won't recognize the EZIO6i. Can't define and sync or re-sync links. The firmware version reported on the Indigo device is 26 (i2 engine), but the log says 00 below during the linking sequence.

Code: Select all
2014-12-02 19:10:55.154   PowerLinc   Linking - syncing PowerLinc links (address 20.F6.4A)
2014-12-02 19:10:55.154   PowerLinc   Linking - . . adding: INSTEON plc link to controller 0C.B2.82, flags 03, group 01, data 00 00 FF
2014-12-02 19:10:55.195   PowerLinc   Linking - . . adding: (not added -- probably already exists)
2014-12-02 19:10:55.196   PowerLinc   Linking - PowerLinc links updated

The EZIO40 should have a device type ID of 1800, not 810. I'm not sure why it is reporting the incorrect ID. Try factory resetting it to see if that gets it working.

This looks like an unrelated problem, but try the same troubleshooting step of factory resetting the module. Also try plugging it into a power strip in the same outlet as the PowerLinc (just for the define/sync) to prevent power line noise from causing any corrupt packets.

Factory reset a few times, still the same 810 ID, I'll see if I can get a RMA, Thanks Matt.

Please let me know if that doesn't help. Sometimes they change the model ID on us, but based on the firmware version reported I don't think that is the case here.

Matt,

Thanks, a factory reset on the EZ-IO appears to have corrected my syncing issue.

Hi Korey,

We've received a report from another user with this same problem (model ID returned of 810). Did the replacement EZIO40 work? And can you tell me from where you purchased it?
