Re: Google Voice SMS Plugin for Indigo 5 (SIRI support added

Hi

I was hoping I can get some help with this message I'm getting in Indigo. I send a text message to my google voice number and it looks like Indigo got it, but I get an "unauthorized" response. Does anyone know what this means?

Thanks

Make sure that the incoming SMS message is coming from the same number you have entered in the "device" properties. The plugin validates that the numbers match up for security reasons.

It is a little confusing, as you may have. Pit your google voice number in that device properties instead of the phone you want to get text commands from.

Let me know if that doesn't work!

Is there any way to keep this plugin connected to Google Voice? I am having issues with the plugin disconnecting after a period of inactivity.

I attempted to setup a timer to reload the plugin, but I'm not sure how to go about doing so.

I had it with the google voice number and that didn't work. But then I changed it to the number for the phone I was using, and it works fine. Now... to get SIRI to do my laundry...

Where can I download Version 1.1.2? The version posted still appears to be Version 1.1.0.

Re: Google Voice SMS Plugin for Indigo 5 (SIRI support added

I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what I might be doing incorrectly or have set up incorrectly with the SMS plug in. I have posted the events from the Event Log below. It appears to me that everything is working correctly. However, I am not getting any SMS messages...I am not sure if there are settings in Googlevoice that I was supposed to set up and didn't that is preventing it from happening.... any suggestions would be appreciated... This is an extension of a trigger that I am hoping to use to notify me when the water level in the sump pump pit is approaching the top of the pit.... With help from Matt and others, I was able to get that working properly but thought adding an SMS message would be more timely and more likely to get my immediate attention that checking my email every time a new message comes in... thanks

Geoff

Is the 860 number your cell phone number or is that the google voice number? It should be the number of the phone where you want the message to go.

Re: Google Voice SMS Plugin for Indigo 5 (SIRI support added

I had the phone number set for the Googlevoice number... as you suggested, I erased the Device, Trigger and Action group that I has installed before, and redid it with the Cell phone number instead of the Googlevoice number but now I can't it to trigger the SMS action at all... not sure what I did wrong or didn't do that I was supposed to do...

Re: Google Voice SMS Plugin for Indigo 5 (SIRI support added

I may be making some headway. I deleted the new commands in the Device, Action Group and Triggers and re-configured them again. This time I did change the phone number to my cell phone number, from my Google Voice number. However, I can get the SMS message on my cell phone but ONLY if I use the Execute Now option in the lower part of the Trigger Panel of Indigo. If I actually trigger the water sensor, it won't result in an SMS message being sent, nor even an entry in the Event log showing an attempt was made to send a SMS. I am enclosing screen shots of the settings I have in case anyone can see what I have done wrong, or not done that I should have done. I will also enclose the Event log. Thanks

Geoff

Re: Google Voice SMS Plugin for Indigo 5 (SIRI support added

As long as the Geoff device is configured with the google voice number, and the action itself has your cell number to send to, it should work.

Now, if I remember correctly....

I had this same problem. The issue, I think, is that you are sending to the 860 number which I assume is also set up as a phone in your google voice account. That was my issue.

The solution: set up a new google account just for indigo to use. Then add a google voice number to that new account. I use a google email for sending and receiving from indigo and a dedicated google voice number for the plugin.

After doing that, the SMS messages worked perfectly.

If you send a google voice SMS to your own number set up in google voice, I think google hangs onto it, or only sends it back off to other mobile phones you have configured in your google voice account.

I see why they did that I guess.

Anyway, that might be the issue :-)

Re: Google Voice SMS Plugin for Indigo 5 (SIRI support added

Okay, here is what I did and what happens. If I change the SMS Geoff device and configure it to the Google Voicemail number 8605312020, no matter what the trigger settings are ( device changes, or Device Becomes On), no SMS message is received on my cell phone. On the other hand, if I configure the SMS Geoff Device with my Cell phone 8604605190, it WILL trigger an SMS message on my cell phone using the Execute now button but using the Water Sensor as the initial trigger to send the SMS message will NOT work.

I am not sure exactly what you are suggesting in terms of using the Google email address and Google Voicemail exclusively for Indigo.. and how that would change things since I still won't have my cell phone number in it, only the Googe Voicemail number... thanks for your continued help..

Dmeeker, I am confused here... I only saw ONE opportunity to enter any phone number and that was when I was setting up the Geoff Device... that was the only time I was prompted to enter a phone number.... as I mentioned earlier, when I have my cell phone number entered here.... manually executing the trigger, did send the SMS to my cell phone. When I had the Google number entered, nothing was transmitted.. your post suggests in the ACTION pane, there is an opportunity to enter a different phone number, but when I configure the ACTION or TRIGGERS, I only see the option of selecting the Send Message via SMS and then the only other choice is the Device I use, which is my SMS ( Geoff in my case) and the option to change the Message that is sent, not the number it is sent to, which was set up in the original Device setup.. am I missing something???
