At this point (no promises, of course), the plan is for the next beta to have a mechanism by which serial based plugins can connect to both local serial ports (like now) and remote TCP serial servers, including the GC-100. Note this does NOT include Indigo Server's native support of the PowerLinc, CM11s, etc., since those are not plugins.

That's great! That will solve the problem. The Global Cache Plugin can focus on IR and Relay control and individual plugins can be created for hardware that use serial ports on the GC-100/iTach devices.

The level of support and user requested enhancements you guys provide are second to none!

Re: Global Cache Plugin for Indigo 5 available here

I have the Global Cache WF2IR iTach Wi-Fi to IR adapters. Happy to be a beta tester!!

I am currently using iRule and use http commands from rules screens to push Indigo commands.

This plugin will be a big improvement! :P

Happy to help and way I can.

Sounds good... GC shipped the hardware to me on Wednesday so I should be getting them any day now. I'll let you know when I have something ready.

Curious if there are any rough ideas when IP2IR support may arrive. Thanks.

This is a great idea!
I am having some issues with this plugin using my iTach WiFi.

Do you have any beta releases that you need tested?

Thanks!!

Re: Global Cache Plugin for Indigo 5 available here

Anyone else having probs where you need to reset the connection to the Global Cache?
I have an action group to reset it, and for certain macros will use before, so I know it runs (better).
Is there a way to tell if the GC is happy prior to sending commands?

I like the device overall, but its a bugger to set it all up (well time consuming for all devices)

Re: Global Cache Plugin for Indigo 5 available here

Hello Chris,

Thanks for the great plugin :D . This is just what i've been waiting for.

I've got it working pretty good, however I'm having problems with my Mitsubishi TV.

My TV IR code has a frequency of 32000, a 0 count and an offset of 1. So in the "configure send IR commands" windows I set it up as needed. The problem I'm having is after sending the IR code to the GC-100. After executing the command the plugin starts transmitting and keeps transmitting until the plugin locks up.

I played around with the settings and notice that setting the count to 1 eliminates this problem, however the TV no longer responds to the commands.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Edmond

Re: Global Cache Plugin for Indigo 5 available here

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the plugin. I have an older version Global Cache GC-100-12 serial ports working with indigo 5 plugins using Network Socket over a double hop wireless link.

mini mac <--> apple time capsule <--> apple airport express <-->GC-100-12 serial port <--> {serial port 1 - caddx NX-8E (19,200bps), serial port 2 - Aprilaire 8870 thermostat (19,200)}

so no more long USB or Serial cables from the mini mac.

The plugins are using the serial port Connection Type: "Network Socket" and Socket Address: "socket://10.0.0.xx:4999" and "socket://10.0.0.xx:5000".

Also running your plugin at the same time and it works great.

Thanks
Ian

Re: Global Cache Plugin for Indigo 5 available here

I'm trying to find out if the IP2IR-P will work with this plugin. I ran iLearn and learned the unit's codes. I was able to get through step 6 of the instructions here (creating and configuring a GC unit). I'm a bit stuck at the next step. I see: "You will need to create one GC IR Module device for each IR port you will use." I have created a Model: CG IR Module". In Configuration, so far I have: module address 2 selected (4 and 5 are the other choices). Port number 1. Does this sound correct?

Thanks for any help you might be able to offer. Thanks,

Bob

Re: Global Cache Plugin for Indigo 5 available here

I have a plugin question.

I have a GC100 as well as the smaller WF2IR Unit.

If the GC100 is running alone, (I disable the WF2IR in indigo), then it works just fine.

If I enable the WF2IR, then restart the plugin, neither unit seems to work. I don't get an error in the logs or anything.

If I then disable the WF2IR in Indigo, still nothing... until I restart the plugin, and with the WF2IR disabled, the GC100 works fine again.

I will go hunt through the forums, but I am curious to know if this is a known bug, or if there is something I need to do with the settings to support 2 devices. One thought I had was that they are both set to the same port. I didn't know if this might cause an issue when the plugin executes, as the socket would be in use, etc.

Please let me know if you have any ideas.

For the fun of it, here are the logs with debugging.

Re: Global Cache Plugin for Indigo 5 available here

This conversation seems a little dated but some might be watching. Is the IP2IR supported yet? There seems to have been indication that this would be supported in the future. Did it happen?
Thanks to anyone that knows!

Re: Global Cache Plugin for Indigo 5 available here

Has anyone had success with this plugin for Indigo 6? This was working fine for me with Indigo 5.1.8 but same command not functioning at the moment with Indigo 6 beta 7
