Re: Russound RNET Plugin

When I launched the file I got an error message saying "There is a problem with this plugin. If this error persists, contact the plugin developer."

Re: Russound RNET Plugin

Thanks very much. The owner should fix that and save us all a lot of time. Can someone help me with the configuration? I am using the Startech RS232 connector from the Russound to my router. There are two choices I am not sure of:

1. Serial Port or Socket
2. SLAB_USBtoUART or usbserial-A600HR12

Thanks!

Re: Russound RNET Plugin

I'd try Serial Port and usbserial-A600HR12. The SLAB_* port is probably the Z-Stick.

Re: Russound RNET Plugin

I see the problem now but not sure how to fix it. The Startech by default is on 192.168.0.35. My LAN router is at 192.168.1.1. They provide a CD that works on Windows to configure the Startech but I have no Windows PC nor CD drive. I wonder if I could redo my LAN to dot zero, configure the Startech and then put my LAN back to dot one where all my stuff is. Would that screw things?

Re: Russound RNET Plugin

Making progress! Trial and error I found that a socket connection is used. I set that up and Indigo says "Socket: 192.168.1.56:4098 connected succesfully". I am now connected to the Russound but I can't make it do anything. I am using a simple "all zones off" as my test. Any ideas on how to diagnose?

Re: Russound RNET Plugin

Did you configure a device for each one of your zones?

Re: Russound RNET Plugin

Hello nlagaros! Thank you very much for the great work you have done with Sonos and Russound! These are a great contribution to the Indigo community. Since my last posting, I have realized the need for creating the devices. I have now made one for each zone. So, more progress! However, I am still not able to cause the Russound to do anything. No error messages. The Russound just does not respond to any commands. Any suggestions on how to diagnose the situation? Thanks very much.

Thanks for the compliment. I only take partial credit for the Russound plugin. Another user, jottowa, was the brains behind it. I helped with some of the implementation.

I think the first think we need to do is check the Russound plugin configutaration. Since you are using the Startech, your settings should be as follows:

Connection Type: Socket
IP: 192.168.1.56
Port: 4098

Controller Model: CAM6.6
Number of Controllers: 1
Number of Sources: ?
Make sure you type in a name for each one.

Below is a snapshot of my plugin config:

Re: Russound RNET Plugin

Good morning. Making progress here, thanks to Nick. I have attached my configuration. I created a device for each zone. Indigo seems to be communicating with the Russound at some level.

Russound Saved Plugin Configuration
Russound Socket: 192.168.1.56:4098 connected succesfully
Trigger Test Russound

Indigo typo on successfully! We forgive them.

My test Russound case is a simple all zones off command. It doesn't work. Any suggestions for how to diagnose my situation?

Re: Russound RNET Plugin

A further thought.. Does the port on the Startech need to be configured? Here is what I have.

That would be a typo in the plugin, not in Indigo...

Re: Russound RNET Plugin

I can't find anything wrong with the setup. I notice that when I execute my test action (turn all zones off) that the data light on the RJ45 end of the Startech does not blink nor do the data lights on the RS232 end. Makes me think there is some port setting I need to change but I do not know what.

Re: Russound RNET Plugin

Does anyone know what mode the Startech port should be in for the RNET connection to Indigo?
