Adding devices with encryption fails

Hi All,

I always had this issue previously but just thought I was trying to add devices that didn't support it.
I'm now adding some brand new Aeotec WallMote's along with me Aeon Gen5 Z-Wave USB Stick so it should be flawless.

But I'm seeing this every time. Help!

Z-Wave started controller inclusion mode with encryption
Z-Wave controller included module: 066 - Basic Wall Controller
Z-Wave querying module for encryption support
Z-Wave starting encryption key exchange with module
Z-Wave completed encryption key exchange with module
Z-Wave stopped controller inclusion mode
Z-Wave Error encrypted command received from node ID 066 has invalid CBC-MAC value (ignoring)
Z-Wave Syncing - started for "066 - Basic Wall Controller"
Z-Wave Syncing - retrieved module neighbors list: 2, 4, 5, 8, 11, 16, 18, 21, 32, 34, 35, 36, 37, 39, 56
Z-Wave Syncing - assigning return route to "066 - Basic Wall Controller"
Z-Wave Syncing - assigned return route
Z-Wave Error Syncing - failed
Z-Wave Error Timeout waiting for "066 - Basic Wall Controller". Module might be asleep, or is unreachable.

Re: Adding devices with encryption fails

Our experience is that encryption isn't implemented very well in non-lock devices and often times there are issues. Encryption also adds significant overhead in terms of response time so it's usually best to only use encryption on devices like locks.

Re: Adding devices with encryption fails

Cool, cheers Jay!

Also FYI, the Aeotec Quad Wallmote seems to (partly) fail Sync'ing

It doesn't retrieve Parameter 5? See below.

Z-Wave Syncing - added group 1 association to interface
Z-Wave Syncing - retrieved parameter 4 "Scene type" is 1
Z-Wave Syncing - device "062 - Basic Wall Controller" parameter 4 "Scene type" changed to 1 (was 1)
Z-Wave Syncing - retrieved parameter 1 "Beep on touch" is true
Z-Wave Syncing - retrieved parameter 2 "Vibrate on touch" is true
Z-Wave Syncing - retrieved parameter 3 "Allow touch-drag up/down to brighten/dim direct associations" is true
Z-Wave Syncing - failed to retrieve parameter 5 "Touch LED color" (skipping)
Z-Wave Syncing - retrieved battery level of 76%
Z-Wave Syncing - created device "062 - WallMote Quad (ZW130)"

Re: Adding devices with encryption fails

I also get the impression that encryption does travel well when making ‘hops’ over non-encrypted devices.
