Kwikset 914 Help!

I recently purchased a Kwikset 914 Smart Code door lock that is Z-wave compatible. I cannot for the life of me get it to pair / sync / be recognized in Indigo whatsoever. I've factory reset both my Z-Stick Plus (ZW090) controller and the lock itself. Made sure I was starting inclusion with encryption, removed my non-encrypted thermostat and still nothing!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

How far is the lock from the Z-Sitck and how many walls are between? The first lock I synced took 3 tries at about 10 yards and 1 wall, and for the other two, I used a USB over WIFI bridge to put the stick within 5 ft of the lock and had no issues at all.

I've got both a 912 and a 916 at my house. I'd agree with the above post. These locks seem to need a pretty good signal to get paired in the first place. When I originally installed them I partially assembled them in my computer room and included them in the zwave stick there. Then I took them to the door and completed the install. Recently (a few weeks ago) I replaced my original Z-stick with a new generation 5 model and the exclude/include process was all able to be done remotely.

If you don't want to do the disassembling that I did, suggest you add a couple of z-wave plug-in devices between the lock and the z-stick. It might be enough to get them to work.

Actually, that might be the problem. As I recall, my 910 didn't want to include until it was in the door. My suspicion was that it was in a faulted state (bolt extended too far or some such error I got later when I got it included then had it out of the door again). At the very least, make sure that it's as assembled as possible and that the bolt is retracted.

The only other thing that I can think of (and this is pretty remote) would be that they sent you a 99140-009 Zigbee version rather than the 001-004 variants that are all Z-wave. I just thought of that because about a year ago I ordered a Dakota 2000 driveway detector and they sent a 3000... which aren't compatible.

So I was able to finally get it to sync. I had to start exclude and then press a button on the lock, then I was able to include pretty easy. My advice would be once you install the battery pack DONT press any buttons! I think by pressing the program button inadvertently I caused a lot of headache.

However, I now have a new problem. I cannot get my thermostat to re-sync now. When I try to sync (its a Trane TCONT624) I get the following in the Event Log:

Battery devices go to sleep to save battery.

You’ll need to press, or keep pressing, whatever the wakeup/config Button is on the thermostat whilst syncing completes.

Bought the 914 but can't sync it. I've done the encryption option and tried factory resetting the Kwikset and excluded/included about 5x. Here's a trace. Any ideas? I'm syncing 5 feet away from my USB stick. Device isn't falling asleep because I can see the LED (on the Kwikset) flashing at certain points. In addition, I'll press a few buttons on it on a few rounds just in case. Thanks in advance.

Can you include the Event Log showing a few (say 3 more) attempts? I'm curious if it is consistently failing in the exact same spot or not.

Pretty sure same spot. Attached is the trace from 2 days ago. I sanitized a few lines by search/replace but did not remove any lines.

I might have forgotten (intentionally once maybe) to press encrypt once or twice... And midway through I factory reset the Kwikset.

ps. Looks like zip/tars not allowed . File is too big, using split to split them up. Just append them together w/ cat. maybe `cat x??.txt > 2020-01-26Events.txt`

Any ideas? Will probably start my Amazon return today....
