[Solved] Can not sync a new Schlage Connect lock.

I need help diagnosing a problem adding a Schlage Connect door lock to Indigo.
My version of Indigo is 7.1.1.
The z-wave interface is an Aeon Labs Z Stick version 2.
The Stick is 12 feet from the door. I have tried putting it on a USB extension cable which did not help.
I have included the lock using the add new encrypted button in the New device window. It took 2 tries but it it looks like it successfully was included.
As soon as the encrypted connection is added I am instructed to perform a synchronization. This fails with a time out. As soon as I start the sync I keep the key pad awake by pressing the outside Schlage button every few seconds. This doesn’t help.
At this point every attempt to add the lock fails with a timeout at the first sync.

Fixed it.

I have two powered usb hubs and I moved the Stick to the one without the external disk then tried the sync one last time. Worked great.

I assume the encrypted link to the lock needs more bandwidth than my other devices and it, added to the other devices on the network, must have been competing with the disk on the same hub.
