after install of 7.1.1 most zwave devices not reachable

after I upgraded from 7.1 to 7.1.1 all devices that do not have neighbor #1 (zwave stick gen 2= 4 years old) can not be reached anymore.

Devices that have neighbor1 as neighbor (mostly- not all) work fine.

errors:
Code: Select all
Z-Wave Error                    send "FamilyRoomRedLamp" off failed
Z-Wave Error                    send "FamilyRoomRedLamp" on failed
Z-Wave Error                    send "frontBalkonyCameraSwitch" off failed

trying to optimize I get e.g.:
Code: Select all
Z-Wave                          Optimizing - started network optimization for nodes: 34
   Z-Wave                          Optimizing - starting "034 - Z-Wave Repeater gameroom"
   Z-Wave                          Optimizing - ping failed
   Z-Wave                          Optimizing - finding neighbors
Z-Wave                          Optimizing - requesting neighbor list update
Z-Wave                          Optimizing - neighbor list update failed -- will try to update nearby neighbors first
Z-Wave                          Optimizing - requesting nearby neighbor list update of "002 - ThermostatGameRoom"
Z-Wave                          Optimizing - nearby neighbor list update failed (not critical, ignoring)
Z-Wave                          Optimizing - requesting nearby neighbor list update of "003 - ThermostatExerciseRoom"
...
   Z-Wave                          Optimizing - failed "034 - Z-Wave Repeater gameroom"
   Z-Wave                          Optimizing - complete
   Z-Wave Error                    Optimizing - update failed: "034 - Z-Wave Repeater gameroom"

I have ordered a gen 5 zwave Stick, will check if that one works. but I will need to exclude all devices from the old one when I do this?

is there a link on how to replace the zwave stick?

Re: after install of 7.1.1 most zwave devices not reachable

Hi Karl,

I'm sorry to hear your problems. I think it's the Indigo .1 version?
Because we have more than 65 different Z-Wave devices and with version 7.1.0 (and the ZStick 2) we have no problems at all.

Here are some links with tips & tricks for replacing the Z-Stick:
(you could do the exclude command also with the new ZSitck)

http://wiki.indigodomo.com/doku.php?id= ... controller
viewtopic.php?f=75&t=18298&hilit=Gen+5
viewtopic.php?f=58&t=18620&p=140944&hilit=Aeon+Z+stick+Gen5#p140956

And yes, it's a lot of work to migrate 65 Z-Wave devices (al lot of them are behind wall swithes etc.).
So we are waiting for a quiet and lonely day to do this dirty job

Warm regards, John

John,

thanks for the pointers

got my z-wave stick v5 from Norm B. this morning ( = 10 minutes by car; benefit of living in Dallas)
~ 2 hours of ex & including.... (30 devices),
- ran optimizer ..

==> everything better than before. No more unreachable devices ..

Note - only devices that don't support NWI should need any physical contact in order to exclude/include. Older devices might, most newer devices shouldn't.

No more windows. Also lost my old windows VMware machine copy.
Hesitate to spend $500 just for things like this.

Re: after install of 7.1.1 most zwave devices not reachable

Was the problem of Karl a coincidence and a hardware problem with the Z- Stick Series 2?
Or doesn't Indigo 7.1.1 work with the Z-stick Series 2?

I'm afraid that only works with newer devices (~ 2 years old?)
Not with 65 x 4-5 years old devices
Maybe it's an idea to display the NWI option in the Indigo Device list?:For example http://www.indigodomo.com/devices/122/

I have over 80 Z-Wave devices working fine with the Z-Stick Gen 5 with Indigo 7.1.1
The devices are a mixture of pre-Gen 5 and newer Gen 5 devices. :)

EDIT: Re-read your post and spotted that you were talking about the Z-Stick Series 2 not the Gen 5 Z-Stick.

My gen2 Z stick never missed a beat... I updated last week hoping that it would fix the Zooz motion sensor, but it didn't; however all the other Zwave devices, old and new kept working fine.

Both my development and production systems are working with Series 2 Z-Sticks without any issues.

Right, that's what I said. I believe the 4.5 Z-Wave firmware that added NWI is older than 2 years, but my comment was in fact general information for anyone reading this thread so it might save them some time.

We don't necessarily know so the information would be spotty at best. Perhaps showing the date the device was added to the device database on our website would at least give people a better idea of how old the device might be. I'll add that to the request list.

TIME STAMP OF WHEN A DIVICE WAS CREATED — device state—. WOULD BE REALLY NICE. —- for all devices.

Re: after install of 7.1.1 most zwave devices not reachable

Hi autolog,

I seem to have the same problem as Karl. (Only one node 1 neigbor after updateing to 7.1.1 and trying o optimize the network)

I have over 80 Z-Wave devices working fine with the Z-Stick Gen 5 with Indigo 7.1.1
The devices are a mixture of pre-Gen 5 and newer Gen 5 devices. :)

Did you ever do an optimize on your network after upgrading to 7.1.1?
Cheers

Wilhelm

Apologies for the delay in replying, an important football match was taking place! :D
I can relax now for a few more days, now that England are through to the World Cup Semi-finals.

If you edit a z-wave device, you will likely see that the device has at least one association of 1:[1] which means it is tied to the Z-Wave Controller.
Neighbours get listed separately.

You can also view the associations by using the Manage Associations ... menu item from the Interfaces > Z-Wave menu.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Jon, congratulation for you team. ;-)

Nevertheless we are talking about neighbours and not associations here.

Thanks. :)

That's the point, the Controller isn't a neighbour, it is an end point controlling the device, either directly or via the Mesh network (neighbours to the device being controlled). None of my Z-Wave devices have the controller (address 1) listed as a neighbour - even ones running right next to the Z-Stick Gen 5 Controller. Everything is working perfectly for me. :)
