Migrating from v2 to v5 Aeon Z-Wave stick - need help

Hello, I tried to swap out a v5 stick for my v2 (problem was the v2 wasn't allowing me to put it into inclusion mode when I unplugged it). I can insert the v5 stick and select the correct port. Indigo recognizes it fine. But the problem is all my devices are now greyed out saying the data isn't associated with my new stick. I plug the old one back in and it says the same thing!

How can I get all my devices back online without reinstalling all of them and re-doing all of my actions/triggers etc?

Thank you in advance for your time and help!

Running Indigo v7 btw.

Hi Russ.

You can't change Zsticks "just like that"; that's the whole point of Zwave.

Any Zwave network, whether managed by Indigo or any other system like Fibaro, Vera or SmartThings, has one controller at its heart and all Zwave devices are registered to it.

To make your gen5 the controller, you will need to exclude and include every device - when you're ready to do that, there's a recent thread between Davel17 and I think Roussell talking through the best way of doing it.

As for why your gen2 isn't working now you've plugged it back in, it should be.

At the bottom left, is "Zwave" text red or green next to where the coloured green/purple blobs fly in and out?

Make sure you've changed port back to what it was, then try Interfaces > Zwave > Reload (NOT Reset)

Failing that, restart your Mac?

Swapping stick will cause the devices to be disabled, and they are not automatically re-enabled if you swap back. But all you have to do is click on the Enabled checkboxes for each device in the main device table. Only do that though if you have swapped back to the original Z-Stick. If you are trying to use a new Z-Stick then you have exclude, re-include, and re-sync everything.

We've added a section in the Z-Wave docs on the steps required to replace a controller.

Thanks Matt - I hadn't realised that.

Jay, is it worth explaining step 2 a bit more - "and reconfigure ..." - or link it to the Zwave controller setup page elsewhere?

Thanks Matt, that solved my problem!

And thanks Jay, I'll read that section and attempt again.
