Aeonlabs Home Energy Monitor not syncing?

Hi

I have two Aeonlabs Energy Monitor (Three clamp Zwave) And they are working perfectly.

So i bought a third, but i can't get it to sync properly. It starts but it do not finish?

Anyone know why this happens?

Z-Wave Syncing - started for "033 - Simple Meter"
Z-Wave Syncing - retrieved module neighbors list: 5, 7, 8, 12, 20, 29
Z-Wave Syncing - assigning return route to "033 - Simple Meter"
Z-Wave Syncing - assigned return route
Z-Wave received "Garderob" power load to 36.6 W
Z-Wave Syncing - retrieved manufacture and model names: Aeon Labs - 0086, Home Energy Monitor (ZW095) - 0002005F
Z-Wave Syncing - retrieved protocol version 4.34, app version 1.00
Z-Wave Syncing - retrieved class hierarchy: Routing Slave : Meter : Simple Meter (04 : 31 : 01, base 32)
Z-Wave Syncing - retrieved command classes: 20v1 60v3 85v1 86v1 72v1 8Ev1 70v1 32v4 73v1 56v1 59v1 7Av1 5Av1 5Ev1
Z-Wave Syncing - retrieved encrypt commands: - none -
Z-Wave Syncing - retrieved capabilities: routing, beaming
Z-Wave Syncing - retrieved multi-endpoint types: 1:(31 : 01), 2:(31 : 01), 3:(31 : 01)
Z-Wave Syncing - retrieved multi-endpoint classes: 1:[32 59 5E], 2:[32 59 5E], 3:[32 59 5E]
Z-Wave Syncing - retrieved group 1 associations: [1]
Z-Wave Syncing - group 1 association to interface already exists (skipping)
Z-Wave Error Syncing - failed
Z-Wave Error Timeout waiting for "033 - Simple Meter". Module might be asleep, or is unreachable.

I tried several times, i have removed it and included it again, i have Switch off the power and on again, but always same results?

Thankful for any tips

/Martin

Re: Aeonlabs Home Energy Monitor not syncing?

I have the Gen5 ZW095 and am not experiencing any problem with it. Could it be a range (or interference) issue? Can you temporarily move it to be close to the Z-Stick and retry the sync?

It's only one meter a part, probebly faulty then. Thanx anyway / Martin

Re: Aeonlabs Home Energy Monitor not syncing?

Hi

I just got a replacement unit. But i have the same issue?

If i look at the logs during sync with debug enable it seems like its indigo that is not answering the unit? (But maybe i misread the log, i am not sure i understand correct)
Is it possible for someone to help me understand?

Thanx

/Martin

Aeonlabs Home Energy Monitor not syncing?

@Matt do you think its fixable or should i send back both units and see if I can order the old one? (I am on the EU version, mayby there is som other differences). /Martin

Re: Aeonlabs Home Energy Monitor not syncing?

I spent some time debugging into this and have identified 2 bytes that the ZW095 is sending Indigo which are not valid. I sent Aeotec a detailed email about the problem, so hopefully it can be fixed in a firmware update (it looks to be a firmware bug and not a marginal unit). In the mean time I've tried to work around the problem in Indigo. So give this beta version of Indigo's Z-Wave library a try. Double-click it twice (once to unzip it if it isn't automatically unzipped, and again to install it). Then try re-syncing it again and copy/paste the Event Log results into a reply for me.

Hi,

Cannot thank you enough, this is so service minded :-)
People ask me why i chose Indigo, here is one of the reason, the support is ASWHOME

It created two clamps, but i have the three clamp module, is there an easy way to create the third?

Here is the sync

Re: Aeonlabs Home Energy Monitor not syncing?

Hi Matt

Looks like I have exactly the same problem. I've tried your new Z-Wave plug in but it didn't help.

I can get an instantaneous and total power reading readings only when I request.

Also I have set the register 101 to 592143 this I thought would return the following values:

Total Readings
kWh
Watt
Voltage
Amperage

Instantaneous
Watts
kWh
Voltage
Amps

I can only see Instantaneous Watts and Total kWh. Does Indigo support these parameters?

I'll second the comment regarding support, its the best system with the best support.

Cheers

Copy/paste the Event Log results showing sync so we can see exactly what is occurring.

Indigo doesn't support/create sensor devices to catch Voltage or Amps, so although you can change the parameter to have the module send those values Indigo won't know what to do with them. You could create a plugin that catches the lower-level Z-Wave commands to translate those (into variable values or plugin devices), but it would be somewhat involved.

Here is a beta of Indigo's Z-Wave library that will show a device for the 3rd clamp. Re-sync it after you install it (extract it then double-click to install)), and Indigo should create the device for the 3rd clamp.

Hi Matt,

That's a shame about the additional parameters especially as creating a Plugin is probably beyond me with current time constraints.

Re: Aeonlabs Home Energy Monitor not syncing?

And it is not periodically (every 600 seconds) sending energy and power values to Indigo? Based on the settings it should be. The original post wasn't about the module not sending updates, but was a failure to sync (which we worked around a firmware problem in the beta Z-Wave library above).

Re: Aeonlabs Home Energy Monitor not syncing?

Hi Matt,

Sorry if I have misunderstood this post topic.

Yes you are correct, I recieve no updates at all at the set interval. The only way I can get an update is to request it.

Faulty ZW095?

By the way should I revert to the original Z-Wave Plugin?

Cheers

Re: Aeonlabs Home Energy Monitor not syncing?

Hi
Thanks Matt
Now i have the third clamp and Everything is working as should :-)

@MarkZ I never tried it at 600sec update but i change the update intervall to 120sec and its working.
