Stelpro STZW402+ thermostats excessive logging

I have 7 of these z wave thermostats installed and set up in indigo as General Thermostat v2 for lack of a specific hardware device type. The problem is that each of these thermostats are sending a z wave event log every few seconds that alternates between

received "006 - basement" is heating &
received "006 - basement" is idle

since the thermostats modulate the heating cycle by short bursts of on/off to the heater.

When all seven of these thermostats do this every second my event log gets full of just these messages. Is there any way to suppress this logging ? I don't see any options under the edit device settings dialog and the only way I can do it now is by disabling Indigo communications which kind of defeats having them in Indigo to start with.

Is there a way to suppress these event logs?

It will require some changes in Indigo and a device definition, but we'll add it to the request list. Can you re-define/sync the device and copy/paste the Event Log window results into a reply for me? I need to get some details about the module to be able to create the device definition.

Re: Stelpro STZW402+ thermostats excessive logging

Matt,

To be able to get a good snapshot I had to disable communications to all but one and set the heat set point to a low number. If they are all connected my log window looks like this after 30 seconds

received "003 - Basement Thermostat (v2)" heat setpoint is 19.0 °C
Z-Wave received "002 - Cinema Room Thermostat (v2)" is heating
Z-Wave received "002 - Cinema Room Thermostat (v2)" is idle
Z-Wave received "004 - TV Room Thermostat (v2)" is idle
Z-Wave received "005 - Garage Thermostat (v2)" is heating
Z-Wave received "005 - Garage Thermostat (v2)" is idle
Z-Wave received "006 - Bedroom" is heating
Z-Wave received "006 - Bedroom" is idle
Z-Wave received "002 - Cinema Room Thermostat (v2)" is heating
Z-Wave received "002 - Cinema Room Thermostat (v2)" is idle
Z-Wave received "005 - Garage Thermostat (v2)" is heating
Z-Wave received "005 - Garage Thermostat (v2)" is idle
Z-Wave received "006 - Bedroom" is heating
Z-Wave received "006 - Bedroom" is idle
Z-Wave received "002 - Cinema Room Thermostat (v2)" is heating
Z-Wave received "002 - Cinema Room Thermostat (v2)" is idle
Z-Wave received "005 - Garage Thermostat (v2)" is heating
Z-Wave received "005 - Garage Thermostat (v2)" is idle
Z-Wave received "006 - Bedroom" is heating
Z-Wave received "006 - Bedroom" is idle
Z-Wave received "002 - Cinema Room Thermostat (v2)" is heating
Z-Wave received "002 - Cinema Room Thermostat (v2)" is idle
Z-Wave received "005 - Garage Thermostat (v2)" is heating
Z-Wave received "005 - Garage Thermostat (v2)" is idle
Z-Wave received "006 - Bedroom" is heating
Z-Wave received "006 - Bedroom" is idle
Z-Wave received "002 - Cinema Room Thermostat (v2)" is heating

As you can see my log window becomes congested with these messages after a while.

Re: Stelpro STZW402+ thermostats excessive logging

To add to this discussion, I reached out to Stelpro technical support and they maintain that the STZW402+ doesn't sent status messages. Surely they must be wrong. The sheer number of these messages logged at each state transition must be originating with the device not by polling. Am I wrong; is this due to excessive polling?

Re: Stelpro STZW402+ thermostats excessive logging

Those are unsolicited messages originating from the thermostat, and are not the result of Indigo sending any type of status request message.

Indigo 7.1.1 is now available for download and supports the STZW402+.
