Smoke Detectors for UK

Hi there - I need to deploy a Smoke detector on our Z-Wave. I am interested to know what manufacturers devices UK Indigo users are using? I have searched the net for a UK sourced suitable device from the Indigo Supported Devices list but have drawn a blank so far - best I can come up with has been a FirstAlert from US based supplier for twice the price :( . Any ideas? Many thanks, Ian.

Re: Smoke Detectors for UK

I don't use them myself (yet) but fibaro make some that are supported (at least the first version was.. not sure if the 2nd version is yet or not)

Thanks. Unfortunately only one of the Fibaro models is supported and it's the 1st gen which appears to be discontinued

Re: Smoke Detectors for UK

@Matt any word on when the 2nd gen model will be supported? What's that you say.. indigo 7.0.3? ;)

I was disappointed when I found out the 2nd gen lost the wired contact options .. I was kinda hoping to tie it into my home alarm as a 2nd layer of integration in case z-wave failed.

Computer says no.

I have several fibaro gen2 smoke alarms working and it is supported.
POPP Smoke Detector and Siren (004001) is also supported.

Wouldn't work anyway since the Z-Wave frequency is different between the US and UK.

Re: Smoke Detectors for UK

Indigo 7 added support for these two:

  • Fibaro Smoke Sensor (FGSD002)
  • POPP Smoke Detector and Siren (004001)

Thanks guys this is a great help - I can see the chaps at Vesternet have stock of FGSD002. Great tip on the frequency too, hadn't considered that.

Best - Ian

Re: Smoke Detectors for UK

Ian,

the Everspring SF812 are also supported (also in Indigo 6)
See the thread here:

Not so fancy as the Fibaro ones but they were cheaper as I bought them (a pair of two for 49€).

So here it is have now added x1 FIBARO FGSD-002 to our network. Physically located in garage next to a TKB Power Switch. Inclusion and sync log below if it is ever any help to anyone in future? Noticed the temperature sensor isn't responding to ack and the status is displayed as '--' i.e. no temperature - is that normal?

Re: Smoke Detectors for UK

The no response to status request is okay. I need to tweak it, but it is benign.

I would expect the temperature sensor to update periodically. Can you turn on debug logging via the Interfaces->Z-Wave->Configure... menu item, then open the garage for around 20 minutes (to hopefully cause a temperature difference), then copy/paste the Event Log results into a reply for me? I want to see if it broadcasting out anything.
