Qubino Z-Wave weather station ZMNHZD1

Gents,

Please add support for the new and really cool Qubino Z-Wave weather station! :D

Device model name is ZMNHZD1 (last digit indicates Z-Wave frequency 868.4 MHz. 2 = 921.4, 3 = 908.4, 4 = 869.0, 5 = 916.0 and 8 = 865.2 MHz)

I tried to sync it in into Indigo but only 8 of the total 10 endpoints were synced in (despite multiple attempts) and only endpoint (temp for ch 1 sensor) is shown with proper value.

EDIT:
Sorry, I think it is just a "sync-in-GUI" issue when syncing in devices with more than 8 endpoints. I can now see all 10 endpoints when looking in the Indigo main window. Endpoint 9 is temperature for channel 2 sensor and endpoint 10 is the humidity value. I see values for both of them but no updates since the first sync into Indigo.
The only endpoint that seems to update in Indigo is endpoint 1 which is channel 1 temperature value.

Here is the device log:

Re: Qubino Z-Wave weather station ZMNHZD1

Thanks for the info – I've added this one to our feature request list. I wonder if this is the same underlying hardware as this Z-Wave weather station?

Nope it is not the Popp Z-Weather station and I do not think it is the same hardware.

The Qubino Weather station sensors are transmitting on the 433MHz frequency to a USB-powered unit that converts the sensor data from 433MHz protocl into Z-Wave data. The Z-Wave "converter" then transmits the data further on into the Z-Wave network to be picked up by the ordinary (and primary) Z-Wave controller being used.
You can see the "Z-Wave dongle" in the picture at http://qubino.com/products/weather-station/ Look further down at that page for the picture called "Weather Station Scheme"

This Qubino Z-Weather Station has also wind speed sensor as well as 2 outdoor/indoor sensors with temp and humidity and finally a rain sensor. The Popp Z-Weather station has none of these.
The Qubino has not brightness or air pressure data which the Popp has.

Hmmmm, I wonder if they use a protocol on the 433 side that an RFXCom supports. If it shares a protocol with any of the other established 433 weather vendors , or if the format is published, you might get it added to the RFXCom. If the RFX understands it, that would bypass the whole ZWave step.

Well, the whole purpose when I bought the Qubino Z-Wave weather station was that to be able to start phasing out my RFXtrx433E (even though it has been working perfectly fine except for the USB driver for the virtual comport freezing every once or second week: http://forums.indigodomo.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=15978)

I think also that Qubino will not release the documentation for the 433MHz protocol but I´ll reach out to Bert at RFXCOM and see what he says.

Best of course if Indigo will support this cool device in future release so that it does not end up as an expensive and unused device...

Re: Qubino Z-Wave weather station ZMNHZD1

Why would you use this Qubino weather station ZMNHZD1 with Indigo?
Because the source of this kind of (weather) information are the 433 Mhz modules (temperature, rain, wind, etc.).
And indeed with the RFXcom hardware and the RFX plugin you have the same solution, (what works perfectly for years now for me)

Kind regards,

John

Re: Qubino Z-Wave weather station ZMNHZD1

Gents,

I have now downloaded Indigo 7.0.1 but unfortunately I am still not able to get the Qubino ZMNHZD1 weather station to work properly with Indigo.

I did a exclusion first and then a new inclusion but the only sensor I get updates for is the temp sensor for channel 1. All other sensors as well as humidity for ch 1 is not updating at all.
They get synced in and I see them as endpoints but no updates, i.e. same problem as I reported in the beginning of this thread.

There is nothing wrong with the sensors since I am able to see them sending updates using the RFXtrx433E as well as I see the ZMNHZD1 blinking accordingly with updates when it receives updates from all the different sensors.

I am not able to post the device log/info since there is no button "Write to event log" available in the window for Edit Device settings anymore? Has that functionality disappeared or moved somewhere else in the GUI?

Oh, I now see that button for some few of my devices but for most of them the button "Write to event log" is gone?

Re: Qubino Z-Wave weather station ZMNHZD1

The button to dump the device profile is hidden if Indigo has a device definition for the module already.

Try turning on the debug logging via the Interfaces->Z-Wave->Configure... menu item. Is anything logged in the Event Log when the ZMNHZD1 sends the missing sensor data?

Also go to the Modify Configuration Parameter... dialog (same menu path), and try reading the config parameters for Param Indices: 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14. The default is supposed to be 1 for all of those, which tells it to send all the sensor data to Indigo. If any of them aren't 1, then change them to 1 to see if that gets it to send the sensor values.

Re: Qubino Z-Wave weather station ZMNHZD1

I turned on the Z-Wave debugging but the only events I see coming from ZMNHZD1 is when the temp for ch 1 is logged.
I can see on the ZMNHZD1-device that it blinks for example twice when it receives data from sensor no 2. It also blinks three times when it receives data from the wind sensor and finally it blinks 4 times when it receives data from the rain sensor.

All params on the ZMNHZD1 for "unsolicited" reports for all endpoints are set to 1 (params 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14).

The strange thing is that if I enable the Hideki protocol in my RFXtrx433E I can see data from ALL sensors coming in to the RFXCOM but it is almost as if the Z-Wave dongle for ZMNHZD1 gets that data also but does not SEND that data further on to the Z-Wave controller.

It is almost as if the 433MHz -> Z-Wave "converter/dongle" of the ZMNHZD1 is broken and only sends out the data for temp for channel 1.... However, at the same time I can actually see on the LED blinks that it indeed receives data from all sensors.

Mine has firmware 1.02.

I did a search in my debug log for "01 0C 00 04 00 CE" (CE = 206 which is the node ID for my ZMNHZD1) but the only events I see with this text string is when the temp for ch 1 is sent to Indigo:

Z-Wave Debug RCVD requestVarSensorStatus: 01 0C 00 04 00 CE 06 31 05 01 22 00 F5 DD
Z-Wave Debug . . requestVarSensorStatus: node 206, endpoint None, type 1, raw value 2200...
Z-Wave Debug . . requestVarSensorStatus: 24.5 °C (float: 24.500000)
Z-Wave received "206 - Temp 1" sensor update to 24.5 °C

Z-Wave Debug RCVD requestVarSensorStatus: 01 0C 00 04 00 CE 06 31 05 01 22 00 F6 DE
Z-Wave Debug . . requestVarSensorStatus: node 206, endpoint None, type 1, raw value 2200...
Z-Wave Debug . . requestVarSensorStatus: 24.6 °C (float: 24.600000)

Re: Qubino Z-Wave weather station ZMNHZD1

Hmmm.... I'm not sure what to recommend here. I searched around and found similar reports of this module not sending out the sensor data. Several people reported the problem and one reported they got it working by excluding/re-including, but no one else reported any success. I don't have any concrete suggestions, but I would try excluding it and re-including it a few times (I know you did already once) to see if that helps. Please let us know how it goes...

I wonder if Qubino support will have any suggestions?

Re: Qubino Z-Wave weather station ZMNHZD1

Ok I´ll email Qubino support and see what they say.

Have you tested this with an actual station in your office and got it to work? If so, what firmware version did you have on the Z-Wave dongle for the weather station?

I did some searching and found that people at Domoticz seems to have similar problems:
https://www.domoticz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12652

I am starting to suspect some kind of firmware issue on the Z-Wave dongle for the ZMNHZD1... :(

I´ll exclude it from my Indigo setup and include it into my test setup on my Windows machine where I can test it with the Z-Way server software that I run with the Z-Wave.me UZB stick.
I´ll report back in few days when I have been able to test it.

Re: Qubino Z-Wave weather station ZMNHZD1

We don't have one of these in-house. We did some work in Indigo 7 so we can more accurately simulate testing of modules and their configuration UI without the hardware.

Of course, that only works if the modules work as they are documented to.
