Fibaro Dimmer 2

Hi Matt & Jay.

I've just received some of the new Fibaro Dimmer 2s.
Obviously at the moment their not fully supported in Indigo. (Though they do work!)
Is there a way I can send any device reports logs or anything to help you guys integrate them more into indigo? Being able to set values from the device list when you double click on it would be great (like the original dimmer) and also currently the second switch is shown as a device which is incorrect as the second switch is only used for associations (or scene activation)

Cheers!
Andrew.

Re: Fibaro Dimmer 2

Which are the differences with the "V1" of the device?

I belive that these features are new:

Automatic Detection of a light source through advanced internal calibration
    Power Metering
Supports both leading and trailing edge
Newest generation, powerful 500 Z-Wave Chip
    Z-Wave Plus protocol
    Security and Notification class
    Configuration menu with LED

As with all new/unsupported zwave devices, you can send a device definition by editing the device then hitting the 'submit definition' button (or whatever it says) and filling in the form, then also hitting define&sync and posting the output from the log into this post where Matt/Jay will pick it up.

Re: Fibaro Dimmer 2

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the device report – I received it. I also looked at the PDF documentation for the new dimmer and it doesn't have the same configuration parameters (or usage of associations) as the old FGD211. I've added it to our list of Z-Wave modules to work on defining.

Re: Fibaro Dimmer 2

I know you don't comment on timing of when things will be supported so I won't even ask. But I do want to point out that this is getting really quite critical now for the UK market at least. Here in the majority of houses there is no neutral connection at each light switch, so for any application where you cannot easily get at the main circuit wiring (like any lights downstairs!) you basically need a 2-wire device. In the UK I cannot find any suitable 2-wire device except the Fibaro dimmer. And now all the main suppliers in the UK (including Vesternet and Amazon) have run out of the original dimmer and only stock the dimmer 2.

So we really need the dimmer 2 supported for the UK market. Please! I'd almost say we need it even more urgently than we need Indigo 7, although this is pretty much the only feature I'd say that of!

Thanks

Re: Fibaro Dimmer 2

The dimmer 2 works fine for me with Indigo. It has its quirks but I can use it with no major issues.

Re: Fibaro Dimmer 2

Yes actually I am able to use it now too - reading another forum topic yesterday I learned that it is possible to manually change configuration parameters for Z-Wave devices through Indigo. The major problem for me had been that I am using the module with a bistable switch rather than a momentary one which is the default setting. So I had to turn the switch on and off quickly to make it work, which very nearly catastrophically damaged my balance of Wife Approval Factor points. And given the device is not supported you can't change the parameters to change that through the normal interface. But now I found out I could just set the parameter manually referencing the manual, I have it working OK now. So I have somewhat restored the balance of WAF points!

As you were!

Re: Fibaro Dimmer 2

I've been waiting for a while, planning to replace all dimmers with this one, and was hoping for support in Indigo 7. Now that Indigo 7 is released without support for it, I'm hoping it's high on the priority list for supported devices?

Re: Fibaro Dimmer 2

I was going to say, id be surprised if it's not supported in I7 with all the other similar type devices released en masse.

Ah, excellent news then, sorry for my post. I couldn't find it in the release forum post or supported devices database.
