Re: Aeotec Garage Door Controller ZW062

While not officially supported in 7.0, I did make some tweaks and tested those changes in the latest release (v7.0.3) for the Aeotec garage controller. I had to update the firmware in mine to 1.11 (I had a beta unit) and I had to recalibrate the sensor but now it seems to be working pretty well.

Note also that once recalibrated the Turn On functionality from Indigo always opens the garage and the Turn Off always closes it. If it is already in the open state then Turn On does nothing, and similarly if it is closed then Turn Off does nothing.

Re: Aeotec Garage Door Controller ZW062

Thanks Matt. Unfortunately it's not working for me. Same as earlier.

Did a resync and tried. No luck. Funny thing is it wouldn't exclude from my z stick. I had to reset the controller and include it again. Calibrated it as you mentioned but it still does the same thing. Off doesn't do anything, On toggles.

I've pretty much given up on this device. Using a binary input to see the door state now and I'll just use the toggle to open or close the garage.

Re: Aeotec Garage Door Controller ZW062

That is disappointing it isn't working correctly. After I updated the firmware on mine (same version you updated yours to), mine is working correctly. I haven't installed it in the garage (I already have modules for controlling it), but simulating the door opening/closing with the sensor seems to show it is behaving correctly now and the relay is toggling ON->OFF correctly based on Indigo's open/close requests.. I wonder if yours is defective, or if the firmware update was corrupted.

If anyone else gets this particular module then please let us know how it works for you.

I have a ZW062 staring at me here on my lab table. I´ll try hook it up to my garage door motor this weekend to test it.

In my post http://forums.indigodomo.com/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=14504#p117115 I got the following device and firmware info when I did my first sync into my controller (Aeon Labs USB Gen5 stick) and to Indigo:

Model ID: 0003003E
Manufacturer: Aeon Labs
Manufacturer ID: 0086
Protocol Version: 3.99
Application Version: 1.11

Mine has the latest firmware 1.11 .

Re: Aeotec Garage Door Controller ZW062

Hi All, sorry to reply to an old thread, I've just bought one of these but can't get it to pair with my v2 z-wave stick.
It's not a plus stick, or a v5 or anything - just wondering if this is why it wouldn't pair?
I also powered it via USB and not the PSU that came with it, as I don't have an EU power adapter here.

Any ideas?

Re: Aeotec Garage Door Controller ZW062

Solved. USB is only for changing the sounds apparently!
Just need to figure out the firmware, recalibration and disabling the bloody annoying sounds on it now (deleted from USB but still making sounds!)

Re: Aeotec Garage Door Controller ZW062

All working for me here now after some fiddling. No real issues at all to be honest.
Calibration worked first time, pressing Off twice only triggers it the first time and not the second. Same for On.
Status updates when you manually open / close etc..

Spot on !

Cheers Matt

I finally had some time to install my unit into my garage door opener system.
Installation, inclusion and calibration went fine and I was also able to turn off the annoying sound. :)

Indigo controls the door opener properly and clicking "ON" in Indigo opens the garage door and status updates correctly in Indigo as well. Same thing for OFF which closes the garage door and status changes to CLOSED when door is fully closed.
Would be really nice of the state names in Indigo could be changed to OPEN and CLOSED instead of ON and OFF.

On thing I have noticed is that if the garage door is in the OPENING state and I press OFF or ON then nothing happens, the garage door completes its opening phase. Pressing OFF should STOP the movement of the garage door (which is what happens if I press the switch that is connected to the garage door opener or using the remote control). Pressing now ON after stop should continue the opening state and pressing OFF from the "paused" mode should start closing the garage door.

Same thing should happen when garage door is in the closing state, i.e. pressing ON should stop the closing process and pressing OFF after that should continue the closing process or pressing ON after the "pause" should start the opening.

These are just minor/cosmetic improvements that would make the Aeotec Garage Door Controller ZW062 completely integrated with Indigo. :)

EDIT:
Interesting! I did a direct association between the ZW062 and a battery operate remote wall switch (ZME-WALLC-S) and then I get the same control functionality as when I operate the garage door with the standard remote control or the built-in wall switch, i.e. pressing either button on the directly associated ZME-WALLC-S starts the garage door movement. Pressing again stops the movement and when I press it a third time the movement starts again but in the opposite direction which is correct. So it seems to be somewhat an issue with how Indigo controls the ZW062 when controlling the ZW062 via the Indigo GUI.

Re: Aeotec Garage Door Controller ZW062

You can try sending the raw Z-Wave command:

0x20 0x01 0xFF

to see if that will get the same behavior you are seeing with the switch association.

Cool! Starting when garage door is closed and sending that raw command:
Code: Select all
2017-05-07 18:24:38.679   Z-Wave Debug   SENT sendRawZwaveCommand: 01 0A 00 13 5A 03 20 01 FF 25 41 05
2017-05-07 18:24:38.792   Z-Wave   sent "Garage - Door Controller" raw command [20 01 FF]
2017-05-07 18:24:39.239   Z-Wave Debug   RCVD requestBarrierStatus: 01 09 00 04 00 5A 03 66 03 FE 30
2017-05-07 18:24:39.241   Z-Wave Debug   . .  requestBarrierStatus: node 090, endpoint None, value 254
2017-05-07 18:24:39.242   Z-Wave   received "Garage - Door Controller" status update is opening
That looks perfect!

Sending the raw command again while garage door is opening:
Code: Select all
2017-05-07 18:24:49.163   Z-Wave Debug   SENT sendRawZwaveCommand: 01 0A 00 13 5A 03 20 01 FF 25 42 06
2017-05-07 18:24:49.237   Z-Wave   sent "Garage - Door Controller" raw command [20 01 FF]
2017-05-07 18:24:49.737   Z-Wave Debug   RCVD requestBarrierStatus: 01 09 00 04 00 5A 03 66 03 FD 33
2017-05-07 18:24:49.739   Z-Wave Debug   . .  requestBarrierStatus: node 090, endpoint None, value 253
2017-05-07 18:24:49.740   Z-Wave   received "Garage - Door Controller" status update is stopped
That looks correct indeed.

And sending the raw command the third time and the door should now start closing:
Code: Select all
2017-05-07 18:24:54.777   Z-Wave Debug   SENT sendRawZwaveCommand: 01 0A 00 13 5A 03 20 01 FF 25 43 07
2017-05-07 18:24:54.891   Z-Wave   sent "Garage - Door Controller" raw command [20 01 FF]
2017-05-07 18:24:55.343   Z-Wave Debug   RCVD requestBarrierStatus: 01 09 00 04 00 5A 03 66 03 FC 32
2017-05-07 18:24:55.345   Z-Wave Debug   . .  requestBarrierStatus: node 090, endpoint None, value 252
2017-05-07 18:24:55.346   Z-Wave   received "Garage - Door Controller" status update is closing
Excellent!

And a few seconds later the garage door is closed:
Code: Select all
2017-05-07 18:25:01.160   Z-Wave Debug   RCVD requestBarrierStatus: 01 09 00 04 00 5A 03 66 03 00 CE
2017-05-07 18:25:01.162   Z-Wave Debug   . .  requestBarrierStatus: node 090, endpoint None, value 0
2017-5-07 18:25:01.163   Z-Wave   received "Garage - Door Controller" status update is closed

So doing the raw commands has the same (and the correct) behaviour as when I control the door with my battery operated switch that is direct associated with the Aeon garage door controller as well as when I control the garage door with its own original remote control or the switch directly wired to the garage door motor.

Aeotec Garage Door Controller ZW062

Just an update.....

Was getting annoyed using the hack I was using and got myself another controller.
I can definitely say now that the first controller was a dud. The new one works perfectly!! Thanks matt.

Re: Aeotec Garage Door Controller ZW062

I can't get it to work properly.

If I press the button on the controller it will open and close the garage door as expected...but the unit always shows ON in Indigo.

It will open the garage door if I press ON in Indigo. I can press OFF all day and it never closes.

I attached a Z-Wave Watcher device to it so I could see what it receives and sends

With the garage door OPEN right now, I press the OFF button to close it...nothing happens to the door and this is the log:

Code: Select all
Z-Wave                          sent "Garage Door Controller" close
   Z-Wave Watcher Debug            Raw command sent (Node 76): 01 0A 00 13 4C 03 66 01 00 25 B5 5E (True)
   Z-Wave Watcher Debug            Raw command received (Node 76): 01 0A 00 04 00 4C 04 22 01 02 05 9D

I then walk to the unit and press the on-board button and the door closes...here's the logs when that happens:

Code: Select all
Z-Wave                          received "Garage Door Controller" status update is stopped
   Z-Wave Watcher Debug            Raw command received (Node 76): 01 09 00 04 00 4C 03 66 03 FD 25

Indigo still shows the controller state as ON

Any ideas what to try next? I have an Ecolink TILTZWAVE2 (modified with mercury switch) garage door sensor on it so I do know the state of the garage door at any moment...so maybe RAW commands might can be used? All I want to be able to do is remotely open/close the door and know the status.

Thanks
Ross
