Green Wave PowerNode 6 plugs

Hello.

I just get this product (4 times :o ) and trying it.
To say, I'm surprised it was totally found and setup seems good : one device, on address but 6 items ... each have energy and on/off in the device list options.
The only thing is, does this work correctly.
For all of them, they often start blinking with the bars, which means "PowerNode is out of range from the Gateway". But it's not the case as I can turn any switch on or off, or ask status without any problems. Even 5 minutes polling works. But it often goes back with this blink.
And the device is known to not poll itself (like if you press the on/off button on the device itself, all plugs are turned on or off, but it does not return this to the gateway).
But why this ?
And another thing : the energy status is wrong on one of my device, even the status of the 6th plug return the wrong information.
So before I get this for exchange, is there any possibility that it's something wrong with the interface or indigo communications / interpretation for this model ?

Here is the product link where I bought it (french) : http://www.swiss-domotique.ch/index.php ... Ports.html

And the log of the problematic device :

Re: Green Wave PowerNode 6 plugs

:? Oh I update :
I found a tip on a forum, it's a strange wheel with color and number (from 1 to 8, or none (black) or LOCK). With lock you deactivate the control and with numbers you should help yourself to distinguish one from another. But it seems, as reported by a user, that if 2 plugs have same number, energy reports then report the addition of ports from both devices.
I tried, as told, to put in black (said Automode) and it seems to work better. I'm trying this and will come back to update.
This device lacks a lot of documentation I think. But it seems to works nice for the price (6 controlled plugs for 70$…).

Re: Green Wave PowerNode 6 plugs

So with some days of testing, result is not so good. Sometimes, some plugs turns off without request, I have to identify why but it seems to maybe respond to another command (but it seems not only of another PowerNode but another zwave device model).
And the energy meter is often wrong.
All the multiplugs are after a while blinking for a while, then stops and is OK. It is normally saying connection lost with gateway, so maybe Indigo should communicate more often to them ?

Re: Green Wave PowerNode 6 plugs

Hi

Something strange?
When relay 1 is turned on, and then press send status request, everything is ok.
When relay 2 is turned on, and then press send status request, relay 2 and relay 3 seems to be on.
Relay 3 is not really on.
When relay 3 is turned on, and then press send status request, relay 3 and relay 4 seems to be on.
Relay 4 is not really on.
and so on.

Re: Green Wave PowerNode 6 plugs

Yep me too I saw on one that the energy report is wrong, and when the 6 is on and I send a status it always return OFF. But it's on...
I'm lost :(

Re: Green Wave PowerNode 6 plugs

I have been using my 2 PowerNode 6 plugs for 2 months now and they seem to be working properly here in my installation.

2 things to remember:

1. The PowerNode 6 defaults to Power On (!!) after a power loss. Read for example at

http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/ ... #msg113328

and

http://wiki.micasaverde.com/index.php/G ... _PowerNode (and on the bottom of the page a lot of good links with tips and tricks about the PowerNode)

2. At the above link (Wiki MicasaVerde) you can also read about the parameter setting number 1 that you should set to maximum value 255 which means that it takes 255 minutes of inactivity between controller and the PowerNode before PowerNode starts to flash to indicate a loss of communication. I have also set Indigo to poll the device every hour in order to keep the communication alive.

I have had no issues with the energy usage reporting. Seems to work fine here on my setup.

I have protocol versions 3.33 and 3.41 on my two PowerNodes and app versions 4.20 on the older one and app version 4.27 on the newer one.

Re: Green Wave PowerNode 6 plugs

So about the Power On I know this, I saw this before buying.
That's for sure very important to know if you're used to setup things differently.

But in most case I don't unplug it :P

For the parameter setting number 1, can I set this up on Indigo ?
Even for the one I set Indigo to poll the device every 5 minutes, it flashes regularly.

And for one, it's always the same thing : when I made a status update, it returns totally wrong values :
Z-Wave sent "zmCommode 01 Visseuse" status request
Z-Wave sent "zmCommode 01 Visseuse" energy status request
Z-Wave sent "zmCommode 02 LED Porte" status request
Z-Wave sent "zmCommode 03 Lampe Hall" energy status request
Z-Wave sent "zmCommode 03 Lampe Hall" status request
Z-Wave sent "zmCommode 04 Hue" energy status request
Z-Wave sent "zmCommode 04 Hue" status request
Z-Wave sent "zmCommode 05 Gants" energy status request
Z-Wave sent "zmCommode 05 Gants" status request
Z-Wave sent "zmCommode 06 Vélo" energy status request
Z-Wave sent "zmCommode 06 Vélo" status request
Z-Wave received "zmCommode 04 Hue" status update is off
Z-Wave received "zmCommode 05 Gants" status update is on
Z-Wave received "zmCommode 06 Vélo" status update is off
Z-Wave received "zmCommode 05 Gants" energy total to 0.1034 kWh
Z-Wave received "zmCommode 03 Lampe Hall" energy total to 0.0025 kWh
Z-Wave received "zmCommode 03 Lampe Hall" power load to 0.0 W

In fact, 6 is ON (and still ON), 5 is OFF, 4 is ON and 3 is OFF. And some things are missing (I think).

Re: Green Wave PowerNode 6 plugs

You can change parameters via the Interfaces->Z-Wave->Modify Configuration Parameter menu item.

Re: Green Wave PowerNode 6 plugs

Thanks Matt.
So this thing seems to work, the default value was 2 for all of them, so it make sense it was too short.
I put them to 255.

But the status is still not working. Any idea ?
Thanks

Oh I see one thing, on the Indigo App, I select the line of the 04, if I click UPDATE on the Device Details, the log ask for the next one, and so for 6 it does not update.
(click on 04) : sent "zmCommode 05 Gants" energy status request

Maybe that's why "Send Status Request" returns nothing good ?

(It does this for my all 4 nodes)

Re: Green Wave PowerNode 6 plugs

Z-Wave sent "LABB - Power strip - Unit 1 - Port 1" status request
Z-Wave sent "LABB - Power strip - Unit 1 - Port 2" status request
Z-Wave sent "LABB - Power strip - Unit 1 - Port 1" energy status request
Z-Wave sent "LABB - Power strip - Unit 1 - Port 3" status request
Z-Wave sent "LABB - Power strip - Unit 1 - Port 2" energy status request
Z-Wave sent "LABB - Power strip - Unit 1 - Port 4" status request
Z-Wave sent "LABB - Power strip - Unit 1 - Port 3" energy status request
Z-Wave sent "LABB - Power strip - Unit 1 - Port 5" status request
Z-Wave sent "LABB - Power strip - Unit 1 - Port 4" energy status request
Z-Wave sent "LABB - Power strip - Unit 1 - Port 6" status request
Z-Wave sent "LABB - Power strip - Unit 1 - Port 6" energy status request
Z-Wave received "LABB - Power strip - Unit 1 - Port 6" energy total to 1.2457 kWh

No information of a port being on or off. Only report I get is accumulated energy usage and that is only for one of the 6 ports even though at least 1 more port should report energy usage.

If I instead select port 1 in the Indigo GUI and then press "Update" on control on the bottom of list I do not get any replies at all. Nothing in the logt either.
However if I do the same for port 2 for example I get energy report but I can't get reports for other ports... So strange!

Aaahhh I see that now too as well. On both of my PowerNode 6's I get nothing in the log when I press Update but on all other "channels" on the PowerNode 6 I get an update and as you say it seems to report status and energy for the NEXT channel?!

Re: Green Wave PowerNode 6 plugs

Finally, it's blinking again. If I check the parameter 1 it returns 255, so it seems to be changed correctly, and kept, but it blinks again.

Re: Green Wave PowerNode 6 plugs

Ok and have you set the device to be polled every hour by Indigo?
You do that under Edit Device Settings.
Mine is not blinking after I enabled hourly polls in Indigo.
