It depends on what commands that firmware version broadcasts. From the looks of it the different firmware versions behave pretty differently. It might just be firmware 2.0+ that sends all the correct barrier commands to give the more detailed state messages.

Would there be a reason why my GD00Z-4 returns no firmware version? All it says in the firmware column is 0.00. I Synced it several times no change and nothing in Event Log

That is a bit surprising, although I have seen modules before not implement that command class (so Indigo just leaves it as 0.0). Can you turn on the debug Z-Wave logging and resync it (and copy/paste the log results)? I want to verify that is what is occurring.

This is working great for me. Appreciate the recent update.

I setup a trigger for mine to get a pushover notifications on device state change, which is working well. Just need to find some good graphics for garage doors in an open and closed position so I can build a control page.

I think I may have found the root problem to all my GD00Z Garage Door problems.

Originally I had purchased the IRIS version sold by Lowes when it was first released. Back then I used it with the Vera Bridge. Even with Vera a few times vera lost it and I would have to resync and it would begin to work again. When Indigo 7 came out I jumped right on the idea of not needing Vera but was unable to get it to add correctly with encryption. I would guess I have included and excluded this device about 45 time since the release of Indigo 7 and at time I would get it to work for a few days before I would need to mess with it. Since the release of 7.03 it hasn't worked correctly at all and last night I decided to exclude it and include again.....Big mistake. After an additional 15 tries I gave up and it would only include but not support encryption.

After thinking it could have something to do with firmware versions since mine said 0.00 and everyone else was talking about 1.07 and such I decided to go buy a new one. Lower recently repackaged all the IRIS merchandise and I thought maybe the firmware was new. Much to my surprise after opening the box and looking at the underneath of both devices they say the exact same thing. Version 1.0. I decided to try anyway and installed the new device.

First try out of the gate it included with Encryption and works perfectly. I think I just had a bad unit from day one. It still included with firmware version 0.00 but it works. below are both devices in Indigo

Interesting. Im tempted to buy a new one too. I called Linear, and they want $50 just to take my call. Im tempted, but if mine is firmware related, I am not confident its a $50 well spent.

Lowes dropped the price of these. When I first bought it I paid $99.00 and then new one was only $79.00 when you think about it $50.00 to talk to someone or $79.00 for a new one that can be returned if it don't work.

Great point. Does yours push the status to Indigo? Mine is "fully" functioning, except I have to query the unit to get current state. For example, if I close the door, Indigo will report its open until I send a status request, then it updates and shows closed.

Yes its updating correctly....The problem you described is what I was recently having with mine after 7.03. If I messed with it and synced it several times it would update maybe for a day then stop again. Thats what made me think to remove it and add it in again but it wouldn't add in with Encryption after 7.03 no matter how many times I tried.

Just a guess but it sure sounds like a marginal signal path. I couldn't get my Kwikset doorlocks to add with encryption until I used a USB over wifi adapter to get the z-stick within a few feet of the locks, and once I got them added, I still got a lot of no acks till I added a couple of repeater slaves, even though I had never needed them for the (unencrypted) motion sensors and air registers, some of them twice as far away as the doors.

Interesting...just upgraded to 7.03 to see if I could get "open" and "close" instead of "on" and "off." I excluded the GDO then re-included it. It sees it but shows "encryption supported but not enabled." It won't respond to any commands or update if the door is opened manually.

You'll need to exclude it again and add it back with encryption enabled. The device won't function properly otherwise.

I tried several times and finally got it included with encryption. My device now reports as a GD00Z-4 with firmware 1.1. The door will open and close properly and reports state to Indigo. However, the state in the UI is always ON or OFF, yet in the event log it shows Opening, Open, Closing, and Closed. When I trigger it from the physical switch, it reports in the log as ON and OFF only.

Mine does the same. To get around the states of on and off I just created a Variable called GarageDoor and a few triggers that Insert Open and Closed into the variable when change is detected. Off = Closed and On = Open. I use the variable on my control pages.
