Re: [ANSWERED]: Linear GD00Z-4 GD00Z-4 Z-Wave Garage Door Op

Well, I now have four of these units, and can't seem to get them to work.

Matt, do you guys want me to send you one or two for experimenting? I am really hopeful we figure this out.

Thanks,
james

Hi James,

So you bought another one or two and they don't work either? Can you send me some debug logging snippets of a Sync along with any commands that Indigo receives/logs when you operate the garage door – both via Indigo and manually from the garage switch? If you have models with different firmwares now, then let's do this debugging with the most recent firmware version you have.

Re: [ANSWERED]: Linear GD00Z-4 GD00Z-4 Z-Wave Garage Door Op

I just bought a couple of these garage door openers from Amazon.
<https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M75TEIU/>

On the back label, it says: DATE: 17114, H/W Rev B, F/W Ver 2.1.

I've installed one so far. It works, is encrypted, but Indigo apparently doesn't understand the status. When I Request Status, I get this:

Z-Wave Debug SENT nonceRequest: 01 09 00 13 05 02 98 40 25 6B 74
Z-Wave Debug RCVD nonceReport: node 005, nonce 5F 11 0D 66 B6 83 B8 9A
Z-Wave Debug SENT requestBarrierStatus: 66 02 (encrypted)
Z-Wave Debug RCVD nonceReport: node 005, nonce A0 A9 E1 26 3F B0 C5 93 (saving)
Z-Wave sent "Left Garage Door" status request

The second RCVD is never the same value twice. The device always shows as "off" in the status display.

When I "included" it in encrypted mode, I got this:
Z-Wave started controller inclusion mode with encryption
Z-Wave controller included module: 005 - Secure Barrier Add-On
Z-Wave querying module for encryption support
Z-Wave starting encryption key exchange with module
Z-Wave completed encryption key exchange with module
Z-Wave stopped controller inclusion mode

When I sync it, I get this:

Z-Wave Syncing - retrieved manufacture and model names: LinearLinc - 014F, Garage Door Controller (NGD00Z) - 47443530
Z-Wave Syncing - retrieved class hierarchy: Routing Slave : Entry Control : Secure Barrier Add-On (04 : 40 : 07, base 66)
Z-Wave Syncing - retrieved command classes: 20v1 66v1 72v1 73v1 98v1 5Av1 5Ev1
Z-Wave Syncing - retrieved encrypt commands: 66
Z-Wave Syncing - retrieved capabilities: routing, beaming, security
Z-Wave Syncing - complete

Sending the device details to the log produces this:

Z-Wave Indigo Device "Left Garage Door" Z-Wave Properties:
Indigo Z-Wave Version: 2.0.68
Node ID: 5
Model: Garage Door Controller (NGD00Z)
Model ID: 47443530

Multi-Endpoint Types: - none -
Multi-Endpoint Classes: - none -
Multi-Instance Counts: - none -
Features: routing, beaming, security
Neighbors: 3
Associations: - none -
Config Values: - none -

In the Edit Device Settings dialog, I see "Garage Door Controller (NGD00Z), firmware 0.00".

My interface is a Aeotec Z-Stick Gen 5. It's logged as "Z-Stick Plus (ZW090) interface on /dev/cu.usbmodemFA1341 (firmware 1.00)" after being reset.

This isn't useful to me without being able to get the device status. Does Firmware 2.1 break Indigo support? Is there any way to fix this?

Thanks.

Try this beta release of the Z-Wave library. Double-click it to install it (you might have to double-click twice – once to unzip it). After it is installed re-sync your module in Indigo and try the status request. If it doesn't help then copy/paste the results of everything into a reply for me.

The Garage door device now fails to sync. I turned on Z-wave debug, and got this:

I should clarify that I'm using Indigo 7.0.3 on OS X 10.12.5. I have been using an Insteon interface for years, but just added the Z-stick. The only Z-wave devices I have installed are the garage door opener and two Aeotec Range Extender 6's. I did not exclude and re-include the GDO after loading your new Z-wave plugin. That's rather a PITA since I can't reach the GDO button without a ladder.

Before I added the new Z-wave plugin, I could control the GDO from Indigo, but now I can't.

Re: [ANSWERED]: Linear GD00Z-4 GD00Z-4 Z-Wave Garage Door Op

I just bought and installed 3 of these garage door openers as well to replace the Insteon ones that failed. I too am running the latest version of Indigo, as well as the updated Z-Wave drivers. I have not been able to sync the controllers thinking it was a Z-Stick issue being that I was running on an S2. I received a Gen5 today and still no joy. Please advise.

What does it show in the log when you try to sync these?

Running Indigo 2023.2 on a 24" iMac M1), OS X 14.4

Re: [ANSWERED]: Linear GD00Z-4 GD00Z-4 Z-Wave Garage Door Op

I put my S2 Z-Stick back in and switched it back to the SLAB_USBtoUART Serial port and now none of my devices are being recognized. Indigo is completely hosed. Below is the dump with just the first device being displayed as the remained 34 devices are showing the same information. Any help would be appreciated. Probably just a dumb mistake I am overlooking. Re: [ANSWERED]: Linear GD00Z-4 GD00Z-4 Z-Wave Garage Door Op

As to the second problem I was having with the old S2 not recognizing any of my existing devices. Had to redefine and sync every device again. What a PITA. Why it lost all of its data when I plugged in the Gen5, no idea. Still no joy with the Gen5 and the garage door controllers.

If you plug in a different Z-Wave controller then Indigo will detect that the node/module information stored in the controller doesn't match what it should (ex: node with address 004 is no longer the motion sensor Indigo expects), so Indigo takes communication offline for those devices, otherwise you would get very unexpected/unintended results. Once you have the normal Z-Stick plugged back in you don't have to do a full re-sync, but instead you can right-click on each device (still somewhat of a pain) and choose the menu item to Enable Indigo Communication.

Argh. These modules really don't seem to be up to specification. I'm going to purchase one so I can troubleshoot it here. Folks that have recently bought one that isn't working: where did you purchase it from? Looks like Stoney got a couple from Amazon. Others? I want to make sure I get a "bad" one.

Mine which has been a problem from the start and still doesn't work right was purchased from Lowes. I can only make it work correctly if I bridge it with Vera
