Re: [ANSWERED]: Linear GD00Z-4 GD00Z-4 Z-Wave Garage Door Op

Encouraged by this post I just got a brand new GD00Z-1 from Lowes. The sticker on the back reads
Date: 14247
H/W RevA
F/W Ver1.0
I am using the beta ZWave library and I have Indigo 7.0.3
I did follow the instructions from the post "by matt (support) » Wed Jul 05, 2017 1:08 pm"

It syncs but it won't respond to open/close request from the device panel.

This is the log from the sync

Re: [ANSWERED]: Linear GD00Z-4 GD00Z-4 Z-Wave Garage Door Op

Actually I take it all back., It's working beautifully!
I wanted to be able to return the box if it did not work out so I only hooked up the controller but left the tilt sensor in the box. After connecting the tilt sensor it works like a charm.
Great work Indigo Team.

Re: [ANSWERED]: Linear GD00Z-4 GD00Z-4 Z-Wave Garage Door Op

I just installed my second garage door opener z-wave controller. It's exactly the same specs as my 1st one:
Date 17114
H/W Rev B
F/W Ver 2.1

See my previous post

The main difference from when I installed the first one is that I am now running Indigo 7.1.

It took dozens of tries to include it, using encryption. Once it was included, it failed to sync. I tried that dozens of times too. I reset the GDO and have not been able to include it again, after a dozen tries. I used the procedure Matt described.

I have several Z-Wave repeaters. I tried moving them around to see if it made a difference, but no.

My first GDO device still works fine.

Here are some log excerpts:

Failed device inclusion:

Z-Wave Debug intiatingSyncUI (timeout in 1500 seconds)
Z-Wave Debug SENT enterInclusionMode: 01 04 00 4A C1 70
Z-Wave Debug RCVD enterInclusionMode: 06 (ACK)
Z-Wave started controller inclusion mode with encryption
Z-Wave Debug RCVD inclusionMode ready: 01 07 00 4A 01 01 00 00 B2

nothing is logged when I push the button on the GDO.

The one successful inclusion:

Nov 25, 2017 at 3:49:09 PM
Z-Wave started controller inclusion mode with encryption

Nov 25, 2017 at 3:49:38 PM
Z-Wave controller included module: 007 - Secure Barrier Add-On

I'm unsure whether this could be caused by the new Z-Wave support in 7.1 or something else.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Re: [ANSWERED]: Linear GD00Z-4 GD00Z-4 Z-Wave Garage Door Op

I have tried for months to get this unit to work following all the steps that so many others used to get it to work. I have finally given up and just use it with Vera

Nothing was changed (intentionally at least) in 7.1 with regards to how Indigo handles this module or Z-Wave inclusion/syncing with encrypted devices. Your logs look like the module is either marginal or there is a signal problem reliably reaching it. I'd suggest wiring it up next to your Mac, then resetting it and following the full list of steps you did previously to see if that gets it working. If not, I think it is marginal and you should try a replacement.

Let us know how it goes...

Re: [ANSWERED]: Linear GD00Z-4 GD00Z-4 Z-Wave Garage Door Op

After nearly two years of trying to get this device to work I think I finally solved my problem. Today I switched out my Gen2 Z-Wave stick for a Gen5. After I got everything running I decided to give the Garage Door another shot. Synced first try. I think the problem all along way the stick.

Re: [ANSWERED]: Linear GD00Z-4 GD00Z-4 Z-Wave Garage Door Op

So my GD00Z-4 stopped working. I tried everything, but to no avail. It would attempt to control the garage door (as when I clicked off, it would beep as if it was about to close the door) but it just never actually would do anything. So I effectively ruled out Indigo as Indigo accurately issued the commands and read the status of the door accurately.

So I went on Amazon and found this is apparently a pretty common problem. It just stops controlling the door after a period of time. Wanted to post this here so others know.

I ordered another on Amazon and paired it using Matt's instructions, which paired/sync'd but it didn't appear to control anything (I'd issue an off command and it would not beep or anything. Then I manually closed the garage door with the wired button attached to the motor and after that, it worked flawlessly. Unsure how long this one will last.....we'll see.

Hope this helps.
