[ANSWERED]: Do you support Aeotec Smart Switch Gen5 - ZW075?

Hi

I am a new user of Indigo, trying to get it working for the first time.

Just to test I use only one device + an interface: the Z-Wave.me UZB1 together with Aeotec Smart Switch Gen5. I successfully included the Smart Switch using an other software (Zensys tools), but back in Indigo I get trouble: The switch is not reacting. (It don't turn on and off.) At the same time Indigo reacts as everything works: The 'State' in Indigo tells 'on' and 'off', which is kind of misleading.

The switch is recognized but don't return any ACK:

Z-Wave Debug SENT setRelayValue: 01 0A 00 13 0C 03 25 01 00 05 0C C4
Z-Wave sent "012 - Relay Power Switch" off
Z-Wave Debug SENT setRelayValue: 01 0A 00 13 0C 03 25 01 FF 05 0D 3A
Z-Wave sent "012 - Relay Power Switch" on
Z-Wave Debug SENT setRelayValue: 01 0A 00 13 0C 03 25 01 00 05 0E C6

If I remove the switch from the outlet. I get error messages:

Z-Wave Debug RCVD setRelayValue: 01 07 00 13 0E 01 00 18 FC (node NAK)
Z-Wave Error send "012 - Relay Power Switch" off failed
Z-Wave Debug SENT setRelayValue: 01 0A 00 13 0C 03 25 01 FF 05 0F 38
Z-Wave Debug RCVD setRelayValue: 01 07 00 13 0F 01 00 0B EE (node NAK)
Z-Wave Error send "012 - Relay Power Switch" on failed

So, after reading the list of supported hardware, I might think maybe the switch isn't supported at all. Is that the case? Is it not possible to use this switch?

Hello - In my opinion, Matt and Jay are the best in the business when it comes to adding new devices.

The first order of business is to ensure that you're working with the most current version of Indigo (v6.0.20 is the current production version I believe) as each new "dot release" usually has some new device models incorporated. If that doesn't work, select the device, then Edit, and then Edit Device Settings. Within that pop-up, you'll see a button to "Submit Device Information."

I suspect that with Gen 5, there will be a lot of new model numbers coming out.

Based on the Event Log I would expect the module to be turning ON and OFF, even if Indigo didn't yet have a model definition for that particular model ID. The log shows that the module is receiving the relay OFF and ON commands, so it should be reacting to them. You don't hear any relay clicks coming from the module?

If not, then I think the module may be marginal, but it is hard to say for sure since it is a new Gen5 firmware. It should be backwards compatible, but there might be some issue we have to work around.

Thanks for your reply!

No, I don't hear any relay clicks coming from the module, and the light on the switch keeps the same state (either lit or not lit.) Using Zensys tools I am able to switch on and off.

I have now tried several hours. Maybe it is the UZB1 that is the problem. (Not fully supported in Indigo.)

Since I am buying my first Z-wave modules right now, I will try to stick with Z-Wave Plus (500 chip), so I think I'll wait until Z-stick Gen5 soon enters the market and Indigo supports it. (Or Indigo supports Network Wide Inclusion.) It might work then. :D

If the Zensys tool can control it, then it sounds like it could be an Indigo bug (or lack of proper model definition). Does the Zensys tool show any log output as to what it is sending? I'd be interested in seeing exactly which commands it is using to control the switch.

An update from me:

It must have been the UZB1 or the Zensys tool in combination with Indigo that was the problem in this case.

I have now bought the Z-stick S2 (wasn't patient enough to wait for the Z-stick Gen5), and the Aeotec ZW075 is now working perfect!

Thanks a lot!!

+1, working w/ the Z-stick 2 and Indigo!
But had to reload it one more time (except inclusion) to get it to report W and kWh.

Hi Matt,

I have a few of these switches and they work for the basic on/off functionality. I cannot however set the reporting threshold as with the DSC24 switches. I know it can be set via the 'modify raw parameter' but still haven't figured out how to do that yet. I have already submitted a device definition a long time ago but do not think it got implemented. Pasted below from the log:

Z-Wave Indigo Device "Router Switch" Z-Wave Properties:

That model device is supported, but yours has a different model ID than we've heard of before. I'll get it added to Indigo 7.0.4.
